GT Bill,

Is this the same weekend the Cobra owners are running?. I have run with your group several years ago. It was a good group with some very cool cars. Are they open to non-ford marques, my buddy wants to go and bring his M3. Do you know if that is OK ?

Open Track Event at Willow Springs - Who can enter?

The Pantera Club event is different than the Cobra Club event, but a number of people including myself run with both groups.

The Pantera Club event is an open track event meaning any car is welcome as long as it passes tech – note - convertibles must have a roll bar! So your buddy with the M3 is more than welcome.

An open event makes for a great weekend because instead of just running with only one mark like having only GTs - we have every mark - Cobras, Shelby’s, GTs, Ferraris, AMXs, Porches, vintage racers, Spec Miatas, Mini trucks, Fords, Chevrolets, BMWs, Vipers, WRXs, Hondas and even VW Rabbits. So you get to see what your car will do against other marks.

The Cobra club restricts their entrants to Ford only and early Shelbys and Cobras are given preference. The Pantera Club event is on a first come first serve basis. Like I said in the article we fill up every event so get your application in early.

Our event like the Cobra Club track event is low key with an emphasis on safety first then fun. The event is aimed at people who want to learn or improve their driving skills. We have instructors available and you are encouraged to use them. You can have the instructor ride wih you, ride with the instructor in his car or have the instructor drive your car - the choice is yours.

Green, yellow and blue group drivers can only pass on the left on the front and back straight-aways – no passing is allowed in the corners The red group (full race equipped and experienced drivers) are allowed to pass anywhere including the corners.

We also have a full wheel to wheel, run what you brung, 10 lap race on Saturday afternoon. This is only for experienced racers with fully equipped cars – roll cages, fire suits, 5 or 6 point harnesses etc.

Hope to see you there!
