After seeing that TT LP640 build, you will find my current build quite underwhelming, I know I do now! But, it's what I got to work with. Why does someone put any time or money (more time, less money, as I only have about $4k into not counting the Fikse's) into a FWD family sedan? If you figure it out, please share, I am dying to know! Anyway, here goes.

1990 Taurus SHO - 3.2L Yamaha V6 - Precision 63mm single turbo
Project goals - 650hp, 2700lbs, 185+ in the standing mile, able to leap orange cones in a single bound

And a license plate that says SLEEPER will finish it off nicely.

Will the FWD stand up to 650 HP? Are you planning to mod that to ensure it can/does?

Regardless, that's going to be a FUN ride!!!!!!! You'll surprise the stuffings out of a lot of people! :thumbsup :cheers

Why'd you go with such a smallish intercooler? :biggrin

Looks like a great project and you are doing a super job!

Haha, it is not entirely street legal, but it may end up with a plate anyway.

The transaxle itself is the major weak point of these SHO's, but I am hoping that the light weight (700+lbs removed) will help with longevity. The axles are pretty stout, especially if you stay away from VHT launches. This is not a drag star, that is for sure. But it does run well once it is moving.

Equal length shafts and a Quaife ATB diff help, but there is still some TQ steer on less than perfect surfaces. Managing your friction circle does take some getting used to.

Love the Taurus Police car grille.
Had 3 SHO's: an '89, a '90 and a '92. Never had more fun than with the '89. Removed the rear seat, stuffed the Vari Kennel in for my 90 lb Chesapeake, and used the car for my 'get to the pheasant spot fast' car. Had more 100mph+ miles on that thing than any car before or since.
