Joey: Sticker on a new SLR coupe is well into the $400s. As with every other car these days, discounts abound, so you should be able to get below $400 for new. Used 2005's (first year of production) are $225-$250, 2006's maybe $25 higher, fire sales (Champion?) and repos even less. The SLR roadster is the hot lick, but pricier.

Opinions about he SLR seem to be white/black with little middle ground. Leno loves his. See <http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/video/video_player.shtml?vid=250338>. Criticisms are the SLR is relatively heavy and not much of a sportscar. That probably wasn't the intent, though. Maintenance/repair costs are HUGE--and no equivalent of GT Guys to help out.

I lust after a SLR but haven't been able to pull the trigger.

Yes , just looked up the car it is an slr. Nothing beats a gt but WOW, its just different, the front nose is soooooo long and neat, a v12? v8? dead quiet, now I see why that sterling moss is coming, in person its very hard to explain, its sleek yet big,the back is short but wide....its a 30's throw back in proportions, real neat......gtjoey 1314:thumbsup

I think you need an SL AMG black series.

Saw one Friday night in downtown Charleston - and it did nothing for me! Yes, it's raw and I like the engineering behind it - but visually, it's confused! Local dealer sold one at the end of last year for $513k !! !!Ouch!! MB 63 Black is a much better choice! (IMHO)

The new SLR Roadsters start at about $500k. The new SLR Roadster 722 starts in the upper $500k's. I have had an 06 SLR Coupe Silver Arrow edition:

http://www.eliteautosllc.com/vehicles.php/mode/view/id/119

Was a GREAT car and fun to drive. You can get a nice low mile 06 in the upper $200's which is a bargain considering they stickered for $465k
