New GT owner, seeking specialist in Fairfield, CT area

I am awaiting my white FGT to be delivered next week. Super excited as I have loved this car for years and just had to make a move when I saw this one.

Although I want to use the car in its stock form, I think I will quite soon want to do a bumper delete and exhaust installation, perhaps a pulleytune. Does my Ford dealer do the work or should I be looking for a specialist? If so, any recommendations from owners in my area (CT) for reputable shops?

In addition, I have been trying to locate the FRPP exhaust which I understand is a quality product but its discontinued .. how could I source this part, or what are the 2-3 top available products I should look at? I will also do some forum searches but an expert might save me a lot of time.

All of the FRPP exhaust products were made for FRPP by Borla. They are now available from Borla, direct.

Just ignore the Mustang GT products in the above link.

awesome thanks! i am considering as an alternative the GTG vintage bumper delete + X-pipe. What do you think the sound difference would be between the two? I love the look of their kit such that the exhaust exits from where the license plate was.

We have a few very lightly used take off Ford Racing catbacks. Let me know if your interested in one. Will sell to you a lot cheaper than a new one and they are "like new"

^^Shelby's offer is probably the best one for the exhaust. But if for some reason, you're in need of a new one, then contact Jack at Muscle Motors. He is a sponsor here and can get better pricing from Borla than direct. Welcome, enjoy, and be safe!

Ford GT certified Dealers in CT are few

-----
Pleasantville Ford
47 Pleasantville Rd.
Pleasantville, NY 10570
914-769-1800

Kevin - Service Manager, ext . 318
Ronald S. - Sr. Master Technician / ASE Certified / SVT Mechanic [Update: Ronald has left; I have his email]

-Axles bolts
-Checked on squeaks in engine cover/latch
-Check all hoses, clamps, fluids, test drove.
-Turn-around in one day
-Stored in separate bay
-email report of axle bolt condition/etc
-Dealer rep called week later to survey quality
-Driven 200 miles since; all well.
-Tech attended advanced training at Ford Plant day after

Great location for NY/CT GT owners, who want another option outside of tri-state metro dealers. Nice small town Ford dealership about 45 minutes outside NY City by train or quick drive over border.

Thanks. This would be about 35min drive from me. Given logistics that probably means flatbed car. Do Ford dealers need to be certified to work on car and if so where can I get list?

Anyone aware of redline restoration in Bridgeport? I think they might be able to work on the car. I mostly am thinking of a pulley and rear bumper delete. Everything has to be easily returnable to stock ..

There are some good video clips posted on the forum which will give you an idea of the differences in sound. I have the FRPP headers into the FRPP muffler and love it. I highly recommend this system if you can get away with eliminating the catalytic converters. If you install the standard bumper delete kit (oem exhaust exit location), you can get shortened tips for the FRPP muffler, which simply bolt on. This makes the whole setup pretty flexible if you wanted to go back to a bumper.

On the other hand, if you must keep the converters, I would use an x-pipe over the FRPP muffler. I used the FRPP muffler with the stock cast iron manifolds and converters and thought the exhaust was much too subdued. A friend has a Hefner x-pipe with the stock manifold/converters and it sounds the business.

As for the GTG vintage bumper delete, it looks awesome. I am debating whether to use it or the standard bumper delete. If I use the vintage setup, I will essentially have no muffler. Decisions, decisions.

I just bought my first Ford GT recently and I live in central massachusetts. After doing a bit of research I decided to try Taska Ford and their Mod Shop in Rhode Island. the car is there right now but i was impressed with the shop when i dropped it off. not sure how long of a ride that is for you, but they will do whatever mods you want. PM me if you want to know how things went after I get the car back---

There aren't any "FORD GT" certified dealers

Just need to ask if they have a SVT certified tech that was trained on the GT or ASE Master Mechanic with experience with the the bigger Ford Engines

Pleasantville does alot of Ford Super Duty commercial business and those trucks need ASE mechanics

You could drive it and drop it off and take a loaner car or Metro North Train
