New GT - 14k below MSRP

Finally found the car I was looking for at the right price.

I just purchased (Dec 16) a new 2005 Red/White with all options & 3miles for 153,500.
This was a late model 2005 with the new 166,945 MSRP. VIN# is 2032.

I believe the dealer sold slightly below invoice, but made money on the hold-backs. Appears the late 2005's are having a difficult time competing with the early 2005's now starting to sell below their original MSRP of 156,945.

Dealer is also throwing in a full set of the standard rims at dealer cost ($1600). :thumbsup

I picked up the car this past week in Illinois...Waiting to arrange shipment to Idaho.

DBK, How do I get 'Spectator' changed to 'Owner'?
Thanks to all on the Forum...Great info out there!

Thanks,
Rick M.

RickM-

Do I know you? I'm orginally from Boise!

Congrats on the new GT!!
My Touring club will be rolling through Boise in June, 2007-we're going to run Idaho 21 over to Stanley, stay at the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch for the opening weekend(have the place to ourselves), and then down through SunValley and Ketchum before turning back east to Jackson and the parks.

New GT...

Rick,

Congratulations!!!! Please do future buyer's a big favor by e-mailing your experience to the FordGTprices.com website. It will make some dealers sick, and bring others into a reality check. If negotiation is not part of your job description you may have a higher calling in life. Nice job.

Congrats on the new "cheap" GT!

I picked up the car this past week in Illinois...Waiting to arrange shipment to Idaho.

Why not drive it home? Are the roads already covered with that nasty salt up north?

Driving it from Illinois to Idaho crossed my mine several times.
This time of year, it's simply the road conditions that concern me.
Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Northern Utah...Not the best states to be driving such a car in the Winter-time. Right now I've got Hog Haulers (HogHaulers.com) scheduled to move it next week - had a couple good references on them - anyone else use them before? (They operate out of Portland, OR, so they transport to the NW quite frequently.) Most other transports were talking 5-6 weeks out.

Paul, I'll send you a PM of the dealership.
They were located in Chicago, and I fully recommend them - their service, personality, and overall professionalism was great...Not to mention the price on the car.

Once I made the decision to go with a 2005 Red/White over the new 2006 Tungsten, I wasn't willing to pay any extra for a late 2005 vs. pre-July 2005...and the dealership knew this - There are plenty of pre-July 2005's out there for sale.

The car is already listed on FordGTPrices.com as 159k (8k below MSRP)...
Ebay shows the car sold for 159k, but the high bidder was illegitimate and the dealership later accepted my offer of 153,500 (which was below their original reserve price).

$153k on a 2005 fully loaded is not hard to negotiate these days, $153k on a late 2005 w/167k MSRP seems impressive (as of today) - let's hope selling prices don't drop much further...

Some Dealers Getting Reasonable...Some Not

I finally got the car I wanted. I paid $152,000 for a mid-year 2005 Red / Stripes and all the options. I bought it in West Virginia and tomorrow it will be on its way to me in Miami. It will have a nice home in my air conditioned garage along with 4 Vipers (one of them a Comp Coupe). Can't wait. :wink

Rick took your lead and sent a bunch of emails offering 153k on a new car picked up a $166,945 msrp fully loaded red car today for 153,700 from a dealer in Pa. And 3 dealers within 40 miles of the car still wanted as high as 220k for similary optioned cars, just a joke! The best counter I got was msrp from the closest dealer to the car I bought.

I paid $147,000.00 for a red 2005, no painted stripes, red calipers, McIntosh Stereo and upgraded BBS wheels.

The Car had been in EBay with a minimum bid of $160K the week before I got it in late Nov.

I felt pretty good.
