Is an extended warranty offered from Ford?

The night that I picked up my GT I asked what an extended warranty would cost from Ford. The finance guy did not think they offered one for the GT and said that he would do some research when he returned in two weeks from his vacation. I was just wondering if anyone has purchased a warranty or ws offered one at time of purchase? If so, what were the terms/cost.

I know for sure that the FORD ESP program does NOT offer any kind of warranty extension on FORD GT. There may be some third party providers out there, but I don't think anyone spending $150K+ would want aftermarket parts in their GT!

Because you get non-Ford offered extended warranty doesn't mean that there will non-Ford parts used for repairs. They use appropriate parts. And since its such a small production run who in their right mind would make parts other than Ford and its suppliers.

I asked my dealer about an extended warranty at the time of purchase as well. He called the corporate office and was told that Ford did not currently have an extended warranty for the GT (this was in September), but was looking into putting one together. He was told that they were talking to the various technical staff, including the people at Saleen, to try to figure out how much it would really cost and what should be covered. The only problem with having the warranty come out after the purchase is that we won't be able to negotiate on the price as easily. I'm not sure what my "price point" would be where I would go for it or walk away.

It's not just the parts you should worry about when going to a non-Ford Extended Service Plan. It's also about the time it takes for some of these third parties to get an "approval" done for a repair. As an example we had a custmer with a non Ford warranty, but she had to wait 6 weeks for the place that sold her the warranty to send an inspector to approve her claim.

I've had third party insurance on cars for years and have never had a problem. And don't tell me I'm that lucky.
