Tried logging in and registering, but the site kept trying to make me pay for 2-3 entries instead of one. I suspect this is the wonderful paypal, so will have another go later. I'm up for bringing the MP4 and testing its launch control mode!

How will speeds convert on the 1/2 mile - who will need the 165+ safety gear - just TT cars?

I do 185/190 at the Texas Mile at the half mile if that helps at 1000hp. Whipple or TT cars will be over 165. Pulley cars would be close.

Great venue - the 1/2 mile. IMHO, go-fast technology - especially in spectacular cars like the GT, is evolving at a much faster rate that safety. Almost too easy now for GT's to exceed 200MPH in the mile venues. Because it is almost "easy", doesn't mean it is safe.

Just bought my pass! What average MPH are you guys thinking a twin turbo Gt will run in the half mile? Are there half mile mph markers at the mile?

interesting question - are TT cars at such an advantage in a short course compared to a Whipple (Where are you Soroush?)? I'm taking my mp4 (which is tt from the factory) and am shooting for around 155 - 160, of course, it all depends on weather.......

175-190

I did 187 in the half mile when I did my 226 run per my vbox. This was at 972hp.

same run shows a 11.12 1/4 mile at 151.45mph.

Wow..that's moving! I'm used to 130 mph in the quarter mile but have no experience in high mph except for a few times in some of my other cars. Mullet any pointers for when you cross the line..pop in neutral and slow down or gear down?? Thanks!

There will be so much space out there slowing down quickly won't be an issue. Keep it in gear for the first few seconds of braking then neutral is fine.

Hi guys, this is the last call to sign up for Houston Half Mile Shootout this Saturday, May 12 at Ellington Field. We just have a few spots left before the event is sold out. If you cant race then come check out one of the best automotive events in Texas!

www.HoustonMile.com

Mark & Sean will be running their 257.7 mph standing mile world record holder at this event. They ran 204.4 mph in the half mile at the last Texas Mile. Come see what they run this Saturday!

Who is going to be there on Saturday? I am not running in the half mile shootout but I may have the GT in the car show part. If the red/white GT is not there look for a white Mooney N56FM and feel free to come over and climb in the cockpit.
