I don't like .357 in a stub nose, too much muzzle blast and flash for in home use

Ported not so bad, but if you miss you will scare even a bad guy due to the fact he thinks you have just fired a 44 mag cannon at him. Your ears will be ringing (so will his) and yes the flash will be big, but is that all bad? I think not necessarily if it gets him running, which is likely. Either way, things will end quickly which is what I want.

Sam, You need to move this guy into one of your bedrooms for protection. He maintains a Cool head even when his wife is raped and murdered!:biggrin

Some excellent advice has been provided here. If you go the gun route the most important thing you can learn is where at all times not to point the barrel. It saves lives!!!

Take a look at the accident pics of my truck from last Saturday night. I was born with, raised with and live with guns and I blew a hole thru the windshield with a .45 on a 1911 frame. Its not if, its when and when it does, you want that barrel at all times pointed where it can do no damage.

If I make the rally, Ill provide the rest of the story....:cheers

Yeah, this might work. Fixes the reloading problem as long as you go with short bursts. Still has the clumsy factor though. Has the noise thing going for it to warn intruders of their peril. But your neighbors should worry, and their neighbors should worry, and their neighbors...

I don't like .357 in a stub nose, too much muzzle blast and flash for in home use, if you have a CCW then it makes sense.

For general defense use, I have two 4 inch barrel .357 Magnum Revolvers. Trained the wife on a S&W Stainless 686, with .38 Special Cartridges, and have a .357 Colt Python Blued for myself. Rubber grips on both. There are other options, but these cover the basics.

I have a 6" 686. I shot my best groups ever with that gun. I have no desire to shoot any <=2" barrel .357.
