Chip Ganassi Racing's testing program with the new Ford GT has moved to the high banks and road course infield at Daytona International Speedway. Team partner, and Ford GT constructor, Multimatic had been responsible for the program's testing efforts leading up to Daytona, and with the first race chassis in their hands, the CGR Ford effort has launched its own test plan that will continue through January.

IMSA's season opener for the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Rolex 24 at Daytona on Jan. 30-31 will mark Ford's return to factory GT competition with a two-car program fielded by CGR.

That is one stunning machine.

Why is the air dam curved up? I thought the objective was to keep air from getting under the car. That looks like it will create lift.

That is a vicious canard, much like the vicious canards in the 2nd and 4th pics that look deployed on the passenger side and folded up on the driver side.

I think they are still working out the aero.

I wouldn't pass judgement until you see the bottom of the car. Usually it's done with a purpose.

If I'm wrong, they are in drastic need of a new supplier for that front splitter. :lol

There's is a new NACA duct in the center of the hood.. wonder what it's feeding ?? :secret:

The Hood extractor nostrils look larger than the street car.. If those are the street car mirrors I could live with those ..

I would tend to agree with Rex. This car is ALL about aerodynamics and would trust Ford has sorted out this chin spoiler to their design goals independent of how it LOOKS. Function is the driving factor.

Good observation Stormy. However the picture in Dave’s post #4 does show the NACA duct while the pictures of the car on the track at speed in post #1 clearly show the duct has been covered over. Will be interesting to see what the air from this duct will be used for…driver cooling, electronic cooling, cabin purge….???

Unless you immediately apply the mega expensive coating post mold, UV exposure degrades the resin into the green hue.

I would guess it is cockpit air for the driver. Clearly taped over in some pics... Tape on test ,, message from race engineers " How do you feel now Scott? I'm sure it's cooler with the tape off but you're killing the aero.. you're .200 quicker with the tape on , can't you tough it out " .. :biggrin .

This is getting so good gentlemen. I see the pictures, I understand testing is happening, we all attended the Rally to see the new GT in the flesh but part of me is still in disbelief. So proud of Ford and stoked to see the new GT compete. Just incredible!!
