As members of this distinguished Ford GT community, each of us are aware that there are many GT’s that have experienced a mishap – from mild to major in their relatively short, often low mileage lifetime. Each of us also knows that the value of the GT’s is at an all-time high and many cars are offered for sale through brokers and not original owners. These facts along with just plain common sense would say that the importance of a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) is paramount. It is our opinion that there is only a small handful of people on the planet capable of performing a thorough PPI on a Ford GT. At the end of the day, it really comes down to sheer experience from having worked on a multitude of these cars and knowing what is normal and what is not. Additionally, it is about the discipline to carefully inspect a laundry list of much more than 100 different check points and making meticulous notations on each. The analogy is an accomplished commercial aircraft pilot. Despite years of experience, when they are in the cockpit doing a pre-flight they are walking through a comprehensive checklist of items to insure everything is as it should be. A thorough Ford GT PPI should follow the same kind of discipline.

The other hardship – and the more recent owners can certainly attest to this, is that the availability of this small handful of capable inspectors is often hard to schedule because of their “normal” work schedules. Prospective buyers will find themselves competing with a qualified inspector’s schedule – and the urgency with needing to make a decision on a GT where you may be in a position of first right of refusal.

We have a solution. During that past several years, Cool Tech has gotten to know Teddy Landau very well. He purchased his first GT in early 2006 and brought it to us for the usual list of mods – pulley/tune, lowering, RBD, etc. Teddy is local to us and would often frequent the shop and help us with the mods. (I’m sure at first he was just checking up on us!) I think we passed because when he sold that GT in a moment of Porsche-GT3-love-at-first-sight-weakness, he acquired another GT and once again brought it to us for a similar set of mods. Once again, he was hands on with us. Teddy has been around and involved with cars since early teens including buying, selling, restoring, collecting, etc. He has extensive knowledge and background on Fords having owned and restored vintage mustangs, Shelby's, Cobras, early Broncos and F-series pickups all the way through current Mustang and Shelby cars. Currently he is a Boss 302 owner. Recently, we have worked with Teddy to share our comprehensive Ford GT PPI “pre-flight” checklist. We believe that it is one of the most comprehensive PPI checklists in the industry – regardless of brand – yet it is totally customized for Ford GT inspections.

So, with this post we are announcing the availability of our PPI as a service AND at an availability that heretofore has not been feasible. Teddy can/will travel nationwide to perform this comprehensive inspection and as a prospective buyer, you will get a full and thorough report on any GT which you are contemplating to purchase. We are also in-process to “generalize” our GT-oriented checklist and so you may feel comfortable to use Cool Tech’s services on other make/models. You can feel free to contact Teddy through us here at Cool Tech or to Teddy directly at TeddyLandau@mac.com.

I had the pleasure of meeting Teddy at your shop when you and Ryan were installing my exhaust and pulley. I can attest he is a great guy and very knowledgeable regarding the GT's. Great to hear you are adding this specialty to your business.

I suspect that Ryan's availability is similar to that of other specialists who can perform this service. Typically he's trying to fit it in with all of his GT work (and in his case his school schedule). The main reason for the post is that with Teddy, we have a very competent, GT-knowledgeable person but who hopefully has more availability in order to specialize in such a service.

Teddy Landau here dropping in to say hello and reacquaint myself with the community. I haven't been too active around here the past couple years, but I've always kept tabs on the forum action, and I'm constantly involved in all things GT over at Cooltech. We're putting the final touches on the GT specific PPI and also the generic version which will be available to preview shortly. I'm also available to help with any logistics including short term secure storage at my location in Burbank for cars coming to or leaving the Southern California area, connecting with transport companies, and delivering cars to and from Cooltech for mods or maintenance.

I think you need to add that you have experience doing PPIs on vintage cars - Kendall some years ago was kind enough to check out a 1939 Cadillac for me that was in his neck of the woods. I still have the car - awesome - and couldn't have bought it comfortably without his help.
Of course, it is probably the slowest car he has ever inspected - maybe 50mph downhill !

We definitely have experience in vintage cars too,and will be adding that to the repertoire.
We recently inspected a '68 Shelby GT500KR a broker was offering in LA for a customer on the east coast.

Thanks
