Here's a couple of F12 whips at the Ferrari dealership Concorso held yesterday in Dallas. I took the FGT in all it's post rally dirtiness and parked it there. Lots of love for an 8 yr old car from the crowd. If I did get a modern Ferrari it would be a front engined 12....either a 599 or an F12.

The 599 is looking better to me every day. Base cars are in the $170-180k range, nearly half of MSRP. I would get a front engine V12 too.

Why is the 599 dropping its value so much, so fast ?

Aside from the the Enzo, I don't think the 599's depreciation is different from any other modern Ferrari.

From what I understand, the 599 has essentially the same engine as the Enzo. I would look long and hard at one if they get into low $100k range. The HGTE equipped 599 is supposed to be really something to drive. Plus, you can get the 599 with this:

599 was designed by your favorite designer Sinovac. He of the McLaren P1.

The 599 was pretty heavily produced. It doesn't seem like they are making quite as many F12s, but we'll see in 2 years. Ferrari's claim is that they are cutting production across the range to preserve value. Uh, yeah, that's it. Sure. 599 has the same problem every other non-halo Ferrari does; the successor is another level. 599 was a big jump from 575. F12 is a quantum leap from 599. I don't even know where you go from here. The performance of this car is essentially unusable on the street.

575<599<F12

His best designing days are obviously behind him. :lol

We need a picture of Audrey in the F12 eating animal crackers with a sippy cup full of grape juice.

Beautiful F12 DBK. Congrats!!

The 599 was actually produced in significantly fewer numbers than originally expected (economic downturn)....same was true of the 612. Total production numbers through the 5 year run were fewer than 3700 units. The 458 will be produced in close to triple that production run including spiders when all is said and done. The F12 is a unique car in that the roll out has been slower and also due to significant international demand, US delivered cars have been fewer in number explaining the premium (30K or so over sticker) that dealers are charging even some of their more loyal customers for a car. It is likely that the depreciation curve will follow the 8 cylinder ferraris more closely for the F12 (less steep) although total production numbers will obviously be a determining factor.

As great as the 599 is, the transmission is pretty choppy albeit slightly improved in cars with the HGTE package. By the way, the best way to see where the used ferrari market is going for a particular model is to look at what the cars are selling for in Europe. 599's in "above average"condition are going for the 120-140K range in europe....about 30% lower than what asking prices are in the states.

Damn are these videos boring once the racing is over! :lol 599 GTO is extremely bad ass looking, but F12 is murderously fast.

My dealer called this week and since I had been reading that the f12 is hard to get I asked what he thought. He told me that they are getting very few cars to the tune of 1-2 per month at most. Sounds to me that they are holding back on production to some degree
