Gotta love the SC on there. Does someone have a TT dyno with the rpm's listed so we can compare where the hp's hit at?

ill try to find my 1020 sheet from last time...would be cool to overlay it

No ice. The car was dynoed EXACTLY as it ran at the Mile and how I drive it everyday.

I'm not surprised at the horsepower considering the speeds you have been turning. I would be surprised to see someone break 220 with less than 1000 hp.

Congrats.

so it ran 224 with 1025 hp to the wheels?

probably a touch higher considering I was at 29 lbs. of boost on that run (it hit 28 lbs. on the 1026 dyno). Also, keep in mind I found out my tach is off and I have been shifting at 6100ish when it will redline at 6500 (7100/7200 indicated).

How did you find out your tach was off?

...if you can find a set of suitable 30" tires, then with stock gear ratios and enough horspower to pull 6700rpm through the lights, you could be the first GT to hit 300 in the mile. I haven't figured out yet how many HP it would take to push all that air out of the way, but I'm guessing 2000 - power requirements increase with the square of speed?

VERY NICE!! Got me wondering, and it has probably been answered, so I aplogize if this is a rehash, but approx how much power are GT's needing to break 200? Did you run in previous mile events at lower power levels? Stock GT's make what, 520whp or so? And run what, 175 or so in the mile?

it takes around 750 whp to get 200 at the Mile in a GT.

so, just for fun I calculated how much horsepower to run 300. Answer = 1250, based on a Cd of 0.34 and frontal area of 16ft. But this is assuming unlimited distance to hit terminal velocity. Now, as Jason says, to run 200 in the mile actually takes around 750 hp and this is about double the 'steady-state' calculation answer. When he ran 224 he was putting out about 1050hp, which again is about double what the steady-state calculation says. When Peak Completions ran 267 steady state tells me he'd need 870 hp, so I'm guessing the actual output was around 16-1700?. In other words there is a correction factor of 2 needed in the steady-state equation to reflect the need for the required work to be done in the time available during a mile run (of course this is a real ballpark empirical number). Therefore it looks like you'd need 2X1250 = 2500 hp to reach 300 in a GT in a mile. Amazing what boredom in the office can produce isn't it?
