Brakes

Anyone feel that the brakes should be a little bit better? I think feel like they didn't put the extra time and effort to make the gt's calipers look great. I know its nit picking but, thats what these boards are for. They look very ordinary, when compared to the lambo's ferrari's and the p-cars.

ps Since I am nit picking here, has anyone come up with something for the ford focus and explorer key set, that I got with my Ford GT purchase?:biggrin

I agree. They look very bare. Could have been a custom look or it could just look bare.

Some of us, have painted brembo or Ford GT logo's on them, or put stickers on them. Of course, you're probably referring to a higher aesthetic than a painted logo or sticker, but just wanted to let you know that is one way around it.

Finishes out the touch a little, IMHO. Funny, that we sometimes seek commercialism / branding...

Don't waste your time on the STEEDA OPTION. I tired it, they returned it after I sent it back saying I scratched the cover and lost 1 screw....
Bastards. I also tried it on a 03 cobra key fob to no avail. Do they test these products - my opinion NO!:frown

Try these folks. Yes they do them for Vettes but they may do them for GTs if there was ineterst.

I gave away my STEEDA fob, after trying to get it to work with the GT, without success.

My friends are using it with their new Mustang GT, and it works fine.

So, just make a Mustang GT owner happy. Bummer, since it did look a lot better.

Steeda key fob won't work on the GT

Yes, I am also on the list of buying the Steeda key fob for my GT. It doesn't work. I posted about it before. Don't buy it. Plus when I called about it they said they didn't know about it not working on the GT; but I have a feeling they do, but could care less. Losers!

I really like the simplicity of the calipers. IN my opinion they go with the no frills, function over form theme of the car.

Yeah, it is a custom hot rodder look. I was torn whether to change it, so I added some custom Ford GT stickers, which can always be removed.

I am glad you posted this. I just called Gene from Mkb and he said he would like to look into offering a solution. He would like to inspect a car in the CT area (fitment, tolerances etc.) if anyone is up to it. We talked about custom engravings such as GT , GT44 or possibly serial numbers to make each look unique. Thoughts?

I'm just surprised that the after-market has not made carbon ceramic brakes very popular for the GT. Im not sure if any of you have converted to carbons or not. It would be cool though. I wonder if F430 brakes are the same size. just a thought.

I just checked my brakes and the rotors are cracking pretty bad. I am replacing them for safety reasons. I know most people haven't racked up 20k+ miles on their GTs yet but double check your rotors anyway. I'd hate for one of those to crack and ruin someones day.

Mine are cracked too. I will probably contact shawdowman for some non drilled rotors when my car is close to running again.

All of the mile madness will increase the sales not only TT systems, but better rotors and brakes too. The upgrades never seem to end. :lol

I guarantee both of your rotors are cracking from the mile racing. I know mine are. It's painful on the brakes to be hit from speeds north of 200+ mph and then have literally almost no cool down.

I got 34000 miles out of my factory pads and rotors. Mile runs at Goliad ended their life on my car. Now running the Brembo slotted rotors up front with pagid race pads thanks Bill !

What's the difference between the Stillen 2-piece and the Brembo 2-peice?

I believe Torrie only changed out his front rotors to the Shadowman Brembo set up and kept the original factory crossed drilled rears.

I believe the Shadowman Brembo rotors are a direct replacement, slotted-vented and not cross drilled and you keep your original factory brembo calipers.

Pads ... well, that's just personal preference.

Like BlackIce said "The upgrades never seem to end." :willy
