It would be nice to see the before and not just the after pics.

Well written, reasonably accurate article. Thanks for posting it, it was an enjoyable read.

If this isn't the car that was smacked into a small concrete bridge bollard last summer (on a New England area golf coarse access road if I remember correctly) - it's a clone of same.

That car's front end hit the bollard at a point just to immediate left of the pass. side headlite. The bollard ended up aft of the radiator about where one would expect it would have come in contact with the chassis.

Pics of it were on the net. (THAT car had 9 miles on it.)

Well! I'll be darned!!!!! By the time I could actually get the computer to POST this - thegtguy had beaten me to it! THAT's the very car I had in mind!

Here's the story:

Car:
2005 Ford GT
Description:
Owner of this supercar waited 2 years for the privelage of driving it. With only 9 miles on the odometer, he decided to see how fast it could go. Unfortunately, he lost control and hit a concrete pole near the 17th hole of Mission Hills Country Club.

We must be wrong because the car in the pics is supposedly an '05, and the one up for sale is an '06.

Well you can always ping the top 3 bidders. In watch collecting on ebay, folks had no problem doing this when a watch was a fake, flooded, or shilled etc.

Its against 100 ebay rules, but self policing happens

140K for a salvage is WAY above what it should sell for. Normally a Salvage will knock down about 30-40% of the value. It should be around $100K. Someone make him an offer and see if it drives straight!:wink :biggrin

Do you knock down about 30-40% off the value even if it's repaired?

Yes! A salvage title on a car is a MAJOR devaluation factor. That opening bid price is either:

A: Completely ridiculous
B: A reflection of the rising market on GTs

I suspect that today it's still "A" but someday (maybe even sooner than later) it could become "B"

The car is an '06 (#149 for '06 IS a black/no center stripe car), and must be the same car as the Mission Hills car, as the temporary tag on it is the same one that was shown in some of the old photos of the wreck.

Then the origional reporting included with the web pics HAS to have stated "'05" in error. 'Sure wouldn't be the 1st time THAT ever happened. :lol

Unless I'm mistaken, it "happened " in '05 with a brand new '06 in KC.
