2010 Ford Mustang GT500CJ on order......

After a long search we finally got on the list of only 50 being made of the GT500CJ. Unfortunately we will not be able to have it in our possession until January 2010 :frown

Check out the link below for more information on it:

We ordered it with the optional graphics package and the upgraded aluminum block/whipple supercharger/automatic transmission combination. So it is technically order as a Super Cobra Jet GT500SCJ.

It will be up and running at the track soon after it comes in so be on the look out!

My 2008 is called a FR500CJ. are the 2010's going to be called GT500CJ? never heard that one.

NorthwoodGT - For the 2010 options you can order it with the Super Cobra Jet Engine which comes with an aluminum block, better internals and Whipple 3.4 s/c. If you order it this way you get the GT500SCJ apparently.

WOW! didn;t know that. I knew Roush was machining aluminum 5.4 blocks for wet sump application but couldn;t figure out what they were going to be used for. maybe now we know! thanks

UPDATE: Our Cobra Jet is #9 of the 50 build. Out of the 50 being built only 16 are with the Super Cobra Jet Engine w/ the Whipple 4.0, Automatic and the Cobra Jet Grapics package. Due delivery date is 2/9/10. Check out the link below:

The degradation-evolution wave.

Gentlemen,

Back in 1974, with the advent of the Mustang II, who would have envisioned this. In just four years, safety and emissions regulations had taken us from the firebreathing 1970 Boss 429, to the Mustang II pictured below that offered two different power plants. A standard four-cylinder with a whopping 88 hp, and, for performance crazed maniacs, an optional V-6 that pumped out an astounding 105 hp!!!! :eek :eek :eek Who could possibly contain all that power and keep that car on the road!

During those darkest of automotive days, we looked back at 1971 as the end of an era where an amazing variety of performance cars were produced, the likes of which we would never see again.

Who would have ever foreseen that 1970 Boss 429 being humbled by a 2010 Mustang. Or that the little anemic Mustang II would eventually evolve into the 500+ HP modern Shelbys in my garage.

Alas, 1971 draws near again as new mileage standards and CO2 limits will again cripple our automotive choices. Turbo Chargers and Eco Boost will hold the line for a few years but the end of the firebreathing performance cars we enjoy today is already on the horizon. This is a performance car golden era. These are the good old days. At least, that's my take on it.
