Fumoto oil tank drain valve

I installed this to make it easier to get samples for oil analysis and to eliminate splashing on the frame when removing the drain plug. I wouldn't recommend using this in lieu of doing a proper oil change that also removes the 2 plugs on the oil pans. You get another 1 to 2 quarts of oil out of the pan and it is a good time to check the under carriage as well.

Just opening the clamshell you can reach the valve from the top without removing any pans.

The correct size is an M12x1.75, the Fumoto part number is F107N. The tube exit through the hole on the right rear jacking pad. I have to get a cover for the end of the tube so that it will stay clean and not contaminate oil samples to be tested.

I installed the same valve in the same place, but not to take oil samples. It makes oil changes less messy. I've used these valves on my old 911 (oil tank, only) for many years with not so much as a drip. I think I posted the installation on this Forum a few years ago. Besides the ease of draining, the valves eliminate the possibility of thread damage and washer replacement. I even considered fabricating a removable access plate in the belly pan to get to the two engine drains. Replacing those plugs with Fujimoto Valves would permit oil changes without pan removal. I didn't do it, but it's still tempting.

BTW, that long length of tubing will require a cap or it will weep for days.

These "How To" threads documented with photos are very helpful.

Thanks for posting, Clinton!

Where did you buy this valve, and what is the exact ordering info for it?

I think the correct name for the manufacturer is Fumoto.

I bought it from amazon along with 2 Dorman magnetic plugs for olny 2.99. I used some gm sealing washers from ebay 50 for $20. I like them, better than the nylon or fiber ones.

Here is a photo of the other parts I installed. My OEM drain plugs were leaking a few drops (needing new rubber washers) so I decided to get this Dorman magnetic plugs as replacements, but chose to use the GM washers rather than the nylons ones.

Some of you guys are going to puke, putting OEM GM parts on the Ford. :lol

If you would rather use the Ford part for the rubber oil drain gaskets it is: E9DZ-6734-B. They run about $2.25

Or Dorman 097-021 at your local auto supply.

But the GM ones were 50 pieces for $20 delivered. :biggrin

Note these type of washers will not work on the OEM plugs, they need a different type, since they have a recess to hold the rubber only washer.
