Has anyone used the supplied tire inflater kit SUCCESSFULLY? Or does everyone just call your favorite tow guy and fugetaboutit. I sometimes forget to grab my cell on the way to fire up the FGT, and want to know if I'm totally screwed if the unthinkable happens! Or if the kit actually works!!

P.S. No matter what the situation---do not attempt to work on your flat on the shoulder of the Interstate... in the dark... in the rain! Ruin the stinkin' rim and get off the frickin' road! Hmmm... let's see.., potentially save a coupla grand versus a lifetime in a wheelchair... ah what the hell, I'll take my chances!

Peace, REDEEMED

If memory serves, sometime back someone here on The 'Forum did have occasion to use the kit and it functioned as advertised. But I'll be darned if I remember who. As I recall, the purpose of his post was actually to ask where he could get a replacement kit.

It was GT Tech:

It was someone ELSE who'd asked about the replacement. (I'm old. Sue me!)

The no spare makes me a little nervous! So I also carry a tire repair/plug kit .

I carry a plug kit as well.

The only time I've used one these types was on my SSR and it actually worked. I would still make sure you carry your phone.

I wonder if the UK guys on here (who live in the South of England) should jointly invest in a spare wheel and tyre?

I'd be happy to be on call 24/7 to come out with it as I don't work anymore. :biggrin

Some of the north jersey owners have the same 24/7 arrangement with one another regarding sharing a tire in an emergency. I keep their phone numbers in the GT on a 3X5 card. I also keep a small scissor jack in the car, breaker bar with socket and a small ramp for driving the flat tire up (to fit the jack under the car). With all this preparation I am guaranteed NEVER to have a flat.

I believe our friend from Canada used his on the rally in california and it worked as advertised.

I think MAD in NC holds the record for flat tires.

If I remember correctly at the Rally3 auction McGowan was talking to someone about that and was saying that they would drill holes in the tires and it would seal them.

We carried a few cans of the tire slime on the rally. Fortunately we never needed to use it. I have used it on other vehicle's and it seems to work pretty well. I have heard that in some cases it will throw off the balance of the wheel but it's only intended to be a temporary fix so it shouldn't be a big deal. Also, it does make a heck of a mess inside the wheel.

yep - any event, any car show and any opportunity to get her out - I'll find a bolt!

Like a friggin magnet she is.......

I've used it with success. Wish I didn't have to.

Also used it. It worked just fine. It was a rather nasty bolt too.

As I recall, he plugged the tire and opted not to use the inflater, as the tire still had sufficient air for him to get to the Chevron station about a block or two away....
