as this section is sponsored by Whipple I thought it to thank them for such a great product.
We have just done 2 enduro races a 6 hour race and a 4 hour race.
the 6hour we finished 3rd and found major problems with rear top a arms flexing so much that there was 1 inch of toe change between power on and braking, not nice to drive.
have now built new chromemoly top a arms, finished rebuilding GT 1hour before qualifying for the 4 hour qualifyed 3rd changed front springs from 450lbs to 500lbs before race start as front end was hiting bump stops to hard and causing ABS to go off, after 15 laps we are leading,
win 4 hour by 1 lap :cheers:willy
we used 100 litres fuel per hour.
GT is now nice to drive with new a arms an now reacts to set up changes
thanks to whipple for 764 rwhp and 662 rwtq @ 16 psi and being reliable the whipple has done 2500 race miles now, motor consumed no oil in 10 hours racing, oil change every race.also must thank my tuner in canada Wayne from Brown Bro's Ford, and Tim Brown for all my parts supplyfor the GT.and of also
Jeff PL510 for his lower rear a arm when I could not get one.

:cheers

Never runs above 180 while racing and goes to 200 when in pits refueling.
also no power loss when racing same perfomance from start to finish.
Taupo motorsport park has an 800 meter back straight and we were clocked at 271kph or168 mph not to bad for a 1600kg car

As for Whipples not overheating on the track, using this race car as an example is not valid, since I bet it doesn't have the a/c condenser anymore.

As for the rear toe changing a lot from the top A arm, I would guess much of the improvement from the new steel A arm comes the use of rose joints vs. the rubber bushings.

And congrats on the win!

do you guys like the Pilot Sport Cup tires?

Also, is that a Sport Cup front tire and if so what size is it?

the tyres are pilot sport cup and are the ones we ran in the race.and yes they are great when hot not good when cold. also in our series we have to run FIA dot approved tyres
345/35 x 19 and 265/35 x 18.
and temps are not relative to the road GT no condenser, no centre hump in hood, bigger intercooler pump 50 l pm insteed of factory 12 l pm makes a big difference
as for the signage the owner Rick Cooper [Mayor of Taupo]owns a hyundai /mistsubishi franchise and it pays the bills
ps has raced for 30 years and has only raced mustangs and this GT

good info, thanks

are you guys using the stock front wheels?

also, my wife is from NZ. When we are there I always see race cars being trailered around the "superhighways" you guys have. :wink

Neil

What is involved to install this 50 l/min pump or anything bigger than the stock one? Is is a simple bolt on, or major redesign?

depends on what you call major
you will have to make new mounts for the pump and maybe make new fittings to weld on to the pump to fit the std hoses, I have aeroquip hoses so it a bit more work the pump is a Meziere electric waterpump that you would usually find on race motors to replace the belt driven pump.

ps our factory one melted the motor and needed a new one in a hurry so I fitted this one and made a big difference.

Neil,

Can you show any photos of the Meziere pump and setup that you have for the intercooler?

Neil,

unfotunatly I don't think I have photo's of the pump setup, but it is mounted in the stock position with a new bracket as it is taller buy about 1.5 in and .5 in longer.hose inlet and outlet position is adjustable by rotating the pump housing.
the rest of the intercooler system is std except for the braided hoses.
also I have a 3 x 8 x 14 inch engine oil cooler and a 2.5 x 7 x 14 inch trans cooler with scoops on the engine cover cooling them this all adds to the great cooling
:cheers
