John,
I have had belt chirp on my Supercharged Shelby GT Mustang. Car has a whipple 550. Belt chirp returns about 2000 miles after I replace the belt. Is there a pulley that fits my Whipple?

Stu
Hey Stu, yes we have them in stock so just let me know what size you are looking for. PM sent

Bill, I have 2 more;

Will you be black anodizing these?

Which diameter would I drop to to go to 21Lbs in the future?
More great questions

John and I have chatted at length regarding the hard anodizing of the pulleys and in turn he chatted with his machinist and because of the grade of material being used to create the pulleys and the fact that when they have been used in other applications showing no wear issues after usage in excess of 50K miles the hard anodizing step was deemed necessary as such it will remain a personal touch step.

For and those pulleys that I install they will hard anodized black however all that will be shipped will be natural aluminum finish.

Now regarding pulley sizes;

There are many things that affect the measured PSI that any supercharger will create however the solicited Whipple pulley sizes are as follows;

Gen I
17 PSI 3.75
19 PSI 3.50
21 PSI 3.25
Gen II
17 PSI 3.875
19 PSI 3.625
21 PSI 3.375
23 PSI 3.125

The pulley arrived last week and it is jewel like in quality. Now I"m getting ready to have the new pulley installed and wonder if the new pulley's belt alignment is any different than the OEM ones once installed? Would a .1" spacer be needed or even recommended?
Good morning Bruce

.First of all you will enjoy the new pulley

With regards to the needs for the .100 shim; Evan aka Guyette Performance a friend and person that I work with regularly did IMO great work in concert with the team at Whipple to create the shim as the direct result of his efforts and in some applications it is the fix for the squeaky belt however I chatted with Whipple at length and they conveyed that in their opinion it is a random issue thus not one for everyone to raise an eyebrow over.

Having shared this, after the testing that I completed with the new pulley I found that when I installed the new custom pulley on gals that previously had the squeaking issue it was no more; this remained the case after several thousand miles.

Lastly; because the custom pulley is much more aggressive when controlling belt slip IMO the secondary idler pulley aka the Whipple snout pulley needs to be placed with only light pressure against the supercharger belt or not used at all. I tested the new pulley without using the secondary idler pulley aka the Whipple snout pulley during many dyno sessions and we had “no” measurable supercharger belt slip; this was not the case when using only the Whipple supercharger pulley

We now have our patented Ultra Grip Pulley’s available to offer to our forum members for the Whipple super chargers or the stock OEM Eaton super chargers. For those of you that have a Whipple on their cars and have belt chirping as well as belt wear we now have the answer that you have been looking for. These Ultra grip pulley's have been around for a long time now with most of the customers coming from the Ford Mustang family (For years Lethal Performance has sold hundreds of these pulleys that were installed on Mustangs with rave reviews). Attached you will see a dyno test with a OEM pulley and the Ultra Grip of the same diameter on a super charged Ford Mustang and notice with the OEM style the humps and peaks due to belt slippage then the after with the Ultra Grip a very smooth more linear dyno graph. My machinist has engraved (“FORD GT”) around the face of the pulley as an added feature for our forum community. Shadowman has just installed the prototype on Ed Simms car and they are both very happy with the results from the pulley. These pulley's will come in raw billet form and made from Virgin 6061 T65 Aluminum and will be sold in a variety of sizes (3.25 & 3.50 for the 3.4 liter) and (3.75 & 4.0 for the 4.0 liter). If anyone would like a specific size not listed please contact me.

The Ultra Grip pulley was designed to reduce belt slippage in 4 manners.

It has a tighter tolerance "V" groove to better grab the belt
It has a flatter tooth as to not go beyond the gripping area and giving the belt a lager surface area to grab
It has a slot that creates a vacuum that keeps the belt from hydroplaning
It has a positive edge to grip the belt better
I has a opposite edge to keep from tearing a belt

For those of you that are interested the pulley will cost $240 plus $15 shipping and handling.

Here is the feedback from Shadowman on Ed Simms car.
