But this car doesn't make sense. A front engined body with a mid engine?

Ford commissioned the car for Sema. Kirkhams have done a Cobra and a Willy's in Copper...they currently build the 427 Cobra and the aluminum Willy's is coming soon.

Hey if Ford wants to pay me to build a car...I would do it.

Sacrificial GT's

I certainly like the Kirkham's "Ford 40GT" better than WCC's "Ford 500 GT-R".

Guess Ford had a few GT powertrains that they wanted to write off. I tried my best, but was unable to capture a shot of the GT VIN # off of the "500 GT-R". It was on display at the AutoRama Hot Rod Show in Detroit in March, and then this past week, it was at Ford WHQ for the Ford Motorsports Enthusiast's Open House.

Ford 500 GT-R

The hand-made copper body on the '40 Ford is a work of art. The GT-R Ford 500 just looked like a souped-up cop car. When I looked at it at the hot rod show, I didn't even realize it had a GT powertrain. Maybe I need to update the prescription on my glasses, eh?
