Hello GT Community,

maybe you can help me. Can you guys please tell me, on which position I can find the VIN on the car? Are there more than just one position?

Is the VIN also in the ECU/BlackBox included? On which way I can read the VIN from ECU?

And is there a way to find out if ODO is correct?
Is it also possible to find out the maching number?

Sorry for that much of question, but to buy a GT is verry expensive and I do not wanna to male a mistake.

Thank you

Daniel :)

Hi Daniel,

Great questions for a very good cause. There are numerous VIN locations on a GT and I think it would do the community more harm than good to disclose all of those. (Don't want to create a checklist for dishonest sellers.) I would highly recommend engaging with a GT specialist to do the PPI. In addition to "just" the obvious VIN matches, there are numerous other "tells" that a specialist can spot including inconsistencies with stated mileage, etc. CARFAX may be a good start for mileage consistency throughout the years. The VIN is also stored in the ECU - but this is programmable. Mileage/odometer is harbored elsewhere.

The vin is in the pcm, also the odo info is saved in the computer too. There are two confidential vins on the car. by fuel pump modules on passenger side and below the belly pan on drivers side rear x member that goes under the transaxle.
