Check out the vehicle that Edmunds will teach you how to drive a stickshift in!

Karl is a brave man to let someone that doesn't know have to drive a stick use his FGT. The FGT with stock gearing isn't the easiest car to start off in 1st, with the Stillen's 3.9 it is sweet!

IMO I would say that #2 is covered by #1 as for #3 it isn't good to hold the clutch pedal in too long, wears out the throwout bearing and putting it in neutral mean you can't accelerate out of trouble if you have to. Best to learn how to downshift correctly and keep the engine engaged and ready to get you out of trouble if needed.

That article is from 2006/ 2009.... I heard Karl has something else happening....

"Karl Brauer is the editor in chief and CEO of Total Car Score (http://www.totalcarscore.com), a new car research site that gives car shoppers and enthusiasts a straightforward research tool for finding the best models. Previously, Karl was the editor in chief of Edmunds.com, and was among the first Internet-based journalists to cover the auto industry." - Huffington Post

I recall going on some GT rides with Karl and his girlfriend Gemma back when these cars were new, a very nice couple. Does anyone know if he still has his car?

Yes he does. We chatted this past summer when the GT Guys were in Los Angeles during their West Coast swing.
