VIN No.

Just a quick question guys....

My VIN no. is 1FAFP90SX5Y400254. Does the last 3 number indicate my car is the 254th GT produced in the entire production or it's the 254th GT produced during 2005?

Also if anyone can enlighten me on what the other digits / letters mean, it would be greatly appreciated!

In 2005 however this is a best guess too because it remains my understanding that the sequence did not always follow exactly

1FA F P90 S 0 5 Y 400001

The first 3 numbers (1FA) are the world manufacture identifier.

The second (F) in this case, is the restraint system code, active safety belts, all positions, driver and passenger air bags, in this case.

The third set (P90) indicate vehicle line, series and body type, in this case, GT, 2-door coupe.

The S stands for 5.4 Liter, DOHC, EFI, S/C aluminum V8.

The 0 is a computer generated check digit, or I should say this position will represent a computer generated check digit.

The next spot, a 5 here is the model year code. 5 represents 2005.

The Y is for the assembly plant, Y is Wixom, Michigan.

The 400001 are the alphanumeric code for the build sequence. Also the vehicles serial number and warranty code.

Yours is the 254 built for 05 but the build" DATES "could be a little off as the bodies in white where shipped in batches. 06 is a different story with tungsten and heritage you can have a low vin say 0325 / 06 but built in june as it was pulled off the line for special prep.....make sense....GTJOEY...IF 254 is your car, its the first batch which was built in oct/nov/dec of '04' BUT THERE ALL TITLED 05:thumbsup

It means it was the 254th on scheduled to be built. The cars were not assembled in exact order.

With the 4038 planned to be built why not 004XXXX indicating their true planned intentions. May be I am being too analytical?

VIN has to be 17 digits. They just fill in with zeros.
