Check out the Sept, 2007 issue of ROAD & TRACK. Pretty cool story.

Congratulatgions John, that car needs wings.
It's too bad a modified GT was not entered. With this competition, 3rd, 4th and even 5th place was very impressive.

if a TT viper can take down a veyron in a 200 mph race then so can a GT with twin turbo's.......

what is amazing is the speed difference from 100mph-200 mph... the Veyron is simply unstoppable tractability from 0-100 mph with its giant tires, and AWD... and has likely a 1.5-2.5 second advantage over the whole of the lot... then aerodynamics and weight kill her from 100-200 (compared to the TT V10's and V8's)

and... for 1.5M$... the Veyron should do everything it does ;)

I think the Viper and the Veyron have the same drag coefficient. 35-36

Unbelievable

Good God that is impressive. :eek Looking at the speedometer in the video the car is accelerating hard past 200 mph.

Finally picked up the issue yesterday. Crazy stuff. It took the LPE 427 Twin Turbo Vette about 4900 feet to hit 200. The Venom 1000 did it in less than 3500. :skep That's insane. The SLR couldn't even hit it inside of 2 miles.

:cheers

it took me 2 miles to hit 200 mph on GPS in my ford GT. i think a ford GT with a whipple, etc pushing 800 rwhp that it could hit 200 mph in 1 mile.

Someone explain how this is a fair comparison? Ok so modified cars, yes they cost less but are still a butt load of money because of the modifications, beat a stock Veyron...I'll still take the Veyron.

If your going to do a test then it should be with just stock vehicles. My opinion only..let the flaming begin

Yes, there is a lot of truth to what you say. Many less expensive modified cars can beat a GT in a drag race, or road race too. Stock to stock, or compare modified to modified.

Also nice to meet you during breakfast at Cars and Coffee.

The GT with 1 mod, a Whipple blower that's easy to install, increases hp by 200. The engine is not overstressed, and still runs on 91 octane.

Not many other vehicles can do that.

i think he ran about 189 mph with the whipple on a 93 octane tune. one of our clients is taking his whipple powered GT to the texas mile in october. i think on a race gas tune he will be mid 190's - maybe a high 190 if we dont have much of a head wind.

You are right, my failing memory. Here is the post for the 190 run.

I wonder what a Whipple with 21 psi pulley and 100 octane would do in the Texas mile?
