I love them both. Curious your impressions of them.
I've been lusting for an LFA for some time, though the recent market has gotten nuts

Superb! Love the LFA!

I miss my Viper ACR, not very luxurious, but for raw power - it was a beast! Loved the V10 growl.

Love the LFA sound

And for anybody wanting (another) one: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2012-lexus-lfa-5/

Do you drive the LFA, or is it a garage queen? A few years back I had the chance to hustle the Lexus LFA test mule around a track (being paced by Scott Pruett so no one overdrove their skills). Amazing car!

Sold for $725K

Okay, I’ll ask: Indy or anyone else, what’s the advantage of a v-10? It seems like if you want a higher revving engine, go to the v-12, but if you want torque, stick with a V-8 with more displacement and/or supercharging. The balancing of a V-10 is more complicated than an 8 or 12. Is it the sound? Bragging rights? Just because we can?

It gets driven. I've put over a thousand miles on it this year since I got it. It was Larry Ellison's car previously (Oracle dude). Had 4600 miles on it when I bought it in the spring. Sounds very close to the CGT I owned previously. Fit and finish is very nice. Very comfortable interior. Actually like it a bit better than the 599 GTO, although the Pininfarina styling is prettier.

You have owned some fantastic cars, these are no exception.

PeteK, that is a fair question. The only v10 I owned was the Viper ACR and it did have a different sound than a v8. Not necessarily better, just different. It also had a ton of torque - over 600 ft lbs. Otherwise, I do not have a good answer...

Well, the V-10 in the Viper I understand. It was a very large displacement truck engine that Chrysler could rapidly adapt for the Viper while minimizing development costs. But I’m curious why a manufacturer like Toyota, who designed a custom engine just for the LFA, or Porsche with the CGT, would end up with a V-10 after doing the engineering trade offs.

And already there's another, 208 miles https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2012-lexus-lfa-6/

Only the 3rd one on Bringatrailer ... compared against 65 GTs (FGT & NGT).

When the Viper came out I remember an article comparing the sound to a UPS truck. lol

Lexus didn't want the nose to stick out like a 70 XKE. Porsche was just being lame.

May have something to do with influence from the F1 V10 era. Not many were ever put into production cars.

Viper 8.0 8.3 8.4
Lamborghini 5.0
CGT 5.7
M5 5.0
Audi 5.2
LFA 4.8

Congrats, two wonderful additions for the toy studio.

I was also thinking F1 maybe, the V-10 F1 era was circa 1995-2005

If I recall correctly the Cobra concept V-10 was considered for the GT, but time (or lack there of) and cost, gave us the V-8.

I rented a Viper for 2 days in Vegas years ago, and though quick, with all that torque, the motor was done by 5,500 rpm. It did sound like a truck. And the transmission tunnel took up more space than my seat. Did always like the looks of the GTS version.
