Anybody else doing this in 08? I got my application in the mail. It's July 28-31. It's a pretty high performance event with a track day at MMP and serious road driving. Entry isn't cheap at $5500, but it is a charity event from a registered 501c3.

I know a family friend that did it the inaugural year in a Blue GT and it's supposed to be a pretty awesome event.

Definitely. From what I gather, he was going a bit gung ho on a section he shouldn't have been. Something about hitting a bumpy section and hitting the brakes to run down from 200.

Submitted my app.

Anyone? Need more Ford GTs. Don't make me be the only one! :cheers

Will be in LeMans... with the FGT... sorry

I thought that was 9-21? Is I wrong?

Haha, I know when the fast pass is, I meant the LM trip...

YES, that is correct, but the cars will be intransit 35 days before and afterwards...

Yep, unless anyone wants to pop for airfreight. :eek

Air freight

Has anyone checked on the cost of air?

From what I have heard from some Ferrari Challenge Cup teams, the cost of air freight seems reasonable.

Jim, without putting too fine of a point on it as there are a number of variables - round trip air is approximately $33k. Most, if not all, of us will be ocean shipping.

A great event

I was on the Fast Pass on the inaugural year and it was a fantastic event. Tom and Shana Maybey run it and they are also fellow GT owners. My car was actually the Silver GT on the first years brochure and I was the car that went on the Open Speed Run ( clocked 191mph ) just prior to the Enzo who crashed went. ( Richard totaled the car as it left the ground coming over a rise)
They used to run it back to back with the Heroes of Speed Vintage race at Millers but this year they are not. I would love to go, but have schedule conflicts...if they ever bring it back to run along with Heroes, I am back in.

:cheers

Dave, what is the event format??? I could not find anything that described the program...am I loco? :eek
Makes me think of the Silver State Classic in September, sure hope our Rally dates match up with allowing a stayover transition to hit that event. :banana

Just sent in for application! See you there Dave!:thumbsup

It's basically several hundred miles of road rallying, in addition to a day at Miller Motorsports Park. MMP is a HUGE track and a GT will hit speeds well over 150 there. They stop in towns and have lunches etc, and there is a spot where you go whatever speed you feel comfortable on a closed road and they issue you a "ticket" that you get to send to charity. I want to say it was something like 14 miles long.

Excellent! Tom Mabey, who is one of the organizers has a GT as well, so we should have at least 3. :banana

I counted 7 last year. All of them red, white, and black. I'd love to pay the last 3 digits of someones entry fee, long as they don't mind an obsessed 20 year old sitting shotgun.:biggrin

Utah

Dave, am I understanding correctly that the format is basically a rally at controlled speeds except for one 14 mile stretch? I was under the impression that there were more high speed opportunities in this event.

I would like to get more information on the format as I am interested in going to keep you two other guys honest.:biggrin

If you want to see the track from a GT's perspective, see my video here > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKPAzjiYvfc :thumbsup

I enjoyed it the second time around.
