Anyone have a good solution for removing really old baked on sticker residue from the side of a trailer?

I have tried with no success;

3M adhesive remover
Goof Off
WD-40
Buffing compound & a buffer
Simple Green
& Brake cleaner

Even the sticker guy is stumped! :frown

Orange Solvent

Amazing product ... very safe for the cars finish :thumbsup

Orange Solvent

If the "removers haven't worked" for you, Gentle use of heat gun/hair dryer may help. Probably not, so---

a trip to the auto body shop may be in order.

you can also try an ERASER WHEEL. But its something that needs to be used by someone thats had a little experience with it.

GOO Be Gone

The petrol that you put in a Zippo lighter is very good (in my experience) in removing all sorts of stuff.

Obviously do it in the shade on cool paintwork.

3M General Purpose Adhesive Remover

I heard Bear Sperm works wonders. Getting it is the challenge.

Orange Glo works great.

Neilda means lighter fluid (technically nafta). Now why the dentist GTNJ knows about wierd solvents is beyond me.

...are you off yer meds again by any chance?

B12 chemtool, its very strong so you have to be very careful, It will dissolve just about anything including paint!

Toulane! very carefully!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

I picked up a product similar to the Orange Solvent GTNJ recommended today... I called the manufacture & they guaranteed it would work.

I haven't had a chance to try it yet but I will report the results!

If that doesn't work I guess I'll head up to bear country :thumbsdow :lol

WD-40

Just don't hurry it; let it soak - remove - reapply - soak - remove until it's all off. One of the best inert solvents around.

MAD, I think you mean Tulane, a college in New Orleans. Or, do you mean toluene?

I used to use toluene - but stopped when the fumes were declared carcinogenic.

Eraser wheel. Just go lightly and don't burn into the paint.

Actually, I think Neilda is referring to naptha. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) will remove some things but not stickers.

Aaaaaaaaah, we all have those mental hiccups now & then...

(I oughta know! :biggrin)

Success!

I soaked the sticker residue with citrus solvent this morning while it was still cool out (85deg. :lol) and hit it with a buffer & wool pad... it worked! Its not easy, but it's coming off!
