Tires and Battery

Is there a date code on the Battery, I bought my car used this spring and it has a Red Optima - how do I know how old it is?

AJB-- how do you like the Bridgestones??

thanks
kurt

Best choice for bridgestones up front?

What is the best choice of the selection given? What about affecting the rake of the car or suspension settings? Here are the three for up front:

Bridgestone
RE050A
RE050A Pole Position
265/35-18 Front (92.75) -13.00%
265/40-18 Front (106.00) +0.23%
255/40-18 Front (102.00) -3.54%

Thx, Tom

Well I just completed the Tires and Battery Installation.
I installed the Bridgestones and the Sears DieHard Platinum.

TWO questions:
1. I will keep the original tires in my garage storage. Heated in winter (cool) and stored flat. Should I put them on wood or is it ok to put them on the Epoxy concrete floor ? Coat them with something?

2. The Optima Battery is still functional and has the unique 'FORDGT' Logo on the top. Since it was 6 years old, I replaced for safety 'insurance' with the Platinum. I have put the Optima on the battery-tender and it is "fully Charged". I want to keep it for posterity should I ever need to sell the FGT. Should I keep it on the battery tender always or should I just let it 'go-to-sleep' ??

Looking for any advice you may have.

I think Rob (otis) tried the 255. His feeling was that they looked small. I agreed.

I have 265/40/18 Potenza's on mine (front obviously). Looks good and handles well. Least amount of deviation.

Well ...
1. put tires and battery on plywood on my garage floor for storage. I Will charge battery occassionally ..just in case.
2. Battery is original with a Black Label. I could not find a date code.
3. The tires I installed were
front- 265/40/ZR 18 BS Potenza RE050
rear - 345/35ZR19 BS Potenza RE050 Scuderia
both were closest to stock Goodyear's in size . they look fine in the wheel openings.
4. The tires have improved NVH especially over the road seams and tar strips. It is noticable within the first 5 miles of driving. The Grip seems better but I have not had the opportunity to evaluate.
Overall, I am pleased.

The grip is much better, the NVH as well, and they last twice as long too!! At half the price it's a steal!!!!

after having intermittent gauge issues due to an aging battery, I did some research on replacements last month. I eventually bought a Ford OEM battery - it was cheaper than any of the other options (including an Optima via the internet), has the Ford factory-type writing/stencilling on it, is the correct physical size, and best of all, they had it in stock at the local dealer!
Regarding Bridgestones, +1 on all the other posts - I've now got around 7K miles on my set (including a bunch of track days), still tread left, better grip, quieter, cheaper. THey're a no-brainer
