Just trying to prepare for rally IV so I was wondering from all of you Texas home boys what can we expect from the local Leo's about window tint on our gals? Is this legal or illegal? How strict are they etc......
Thanks in advance:cheers

My input on window tint in Texas. I am 53 yo and in the car business. I have driven many different cars with various stages of tint. I have NEVER been pulled over because of tint. There probably are some degrees of tint that are "illegal" but I do not know what that level is. I have heard of cases where "slabs", "donks" or other vehicles were pulled over blamed on the tint, but I'm thinking that was just a reason to stop and check out the "situation". If you aren't a "gangsta", there prolly isn't much to worry about. :cheers

technically anything less than 35 on the driver and front passenger is illegal, all other window can be as dark as you want,..... no film on the windshield

I have never had an issue with tint on any of my cars and I even use tint on my front windshield. The sun here in Texas is brutal. I think most officers know the difference between tint to hide what's going on in the car and tint to keep you cool.

Do worry about it.

If you're sporting an out of state 'plate, I would THINK that should get you a "pass" in Texas or anywhere else while "visiting". :shrug

:secret:My side windows are 5%. My entire windshield is 30%. Running dealer tags and have a written perscription from a doctor. Im good!

as long as you have out of state plates they don't care about the vehicle at all unless it is on fire... dumping oil on the hiway or doing WAY over the limit :biggrin

I have all my cars limo tinted out with no issues... and no front plate either :biggrin

Did the doc say you were photosensitive like vampires?

We have folks that accept 'Special Written Prescriptions' in California....I don't know if they get 'dealer' tags though.:ack

The front license plate thing is used as an excuse to check you out. I've gotten 3 warning tickets for no front plate on 3 different cars (but not my GT).

My son has limo tint on his truck which is illegal but he has never been pulled over for it.

Just come to Texas and have a good time. Just don't forget your Valentine 1's. Speeding is the only thing you're likely to get a ticket for here.:thumbsup

Agreed!!:thumbsup

Thanks for all of your input:thumbsup The tint will stay on:banana

Got pulled over one time in my '69 GT350 about 10 years ago.... Texas State Trooper said my side window tint was too dark. Wrote me a warning ticket and let me go.

No issues since and the tint remains the same.

I'll pretend I don't know anything about this.

He just wanted a closeup look at the car. :wink

I agree!

Back in the 60's & early 70's, I got pulled over a couple of times (in a rental car) for turning right after stopping at a red light. The officers looked at my license, confirmed I was from California, and warned me that, while legal at home, it was a violation in Texas.

Is this still the case?

Unless a sign is posted saying otherwise, it's legal here to turn right on red after a full stop. Unless Austin has local ordinances against it.

Anybody from Austin want to pitch in?
