I have noticed that when I started my GT the last few times that the gas guage and temp. guages did not work , however when I shut the car down right after start up and re start it the guages both work

Is this a problem , I have never heard of a delayed gauge reaction

This has happened on the last 3 start ups

Sounds like a large percentage of these type of problems can be associated with a low battery or the ground connection.
So far it hasen't happened to me, i always wait untill all the instruments come on line before i hit the start button and they have always worked so far
{knock on wood} and i always use a battery tender. I think a low battery even a slight amount such as a volt or two might cause the instruments to be slow? It's just my guess however!

I had a similar issue years ago when none of the gauges would work on initial start up, but would work after re-starting the car after a drive. I haven't had this happen again, since keeping the battery "topped off" with the battery tender.

gt forume dont woryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy mateeeeeee i have the solution
it has happened to me and various other guys here my supercharger guage , tacho , oil pressure they all didnt work the problem is the battery

always charge the battery when not using the car , try charging ur battery and the gauges will work trust me !! ;) dont worry the baby is fine

Thanks for the vote of confidence FORDGTKWT

I always have the car on the battery tender when not in use , maybe that is not giving a full charge and i just need to run the car for a few hours to get all guages up and running again

PUT IT ON A TRICKLE CHARGER (that you know actually WORKS) for a day or two (or three!). Do NOT quick charge it. That could wreck the gell battery.

'Also might want to clean the "ground" contact on the chassis.

If the battery is the pblm, the above should solve it. :wink :cheers

I responded to you in the thread within which you asked me.

Takes care

Guys

I took the beast out for its maiden spring voyage and the guages came back to life as soon as the battery regained its charge through the alternator

I hope the guages stay working as this was a bit of a scare

incidently the drive was great , lots of attention and pics from the public

Well it was finally my turn i guess. My temp guage is stuck on 185. So my above quote where i was braging about how to prevent failures is aparently wrong.

My temp gauge has now failed too, in addition to the boost gauge and speedometer.... the continued silence from Ford/SVT on this issue is deafening.

PUT IT ON A TRICKLE CHARGER
Of course Pockets intended to say a float charger (floats on and off as needed).

Did your battery charger have an indicator light or some other method of showing that a full charge was reached prior to the gauge problem?

Yes , it was fully charged. I wish i had the magic answer but in fact it might just be because the guages are poor quality and thats that !!
