Keith has had a hard on for GTs for some time . I don't get it but he seems single handedly bent on lowering the market. I love the mag and he helped me buy a car once, but something or somebody must have pissed him off.

As if it's as easy as trading your old GT for a new one. So stupid.

he had never seen any model increase in value when a new model was introduced>>>>

Porsche Carrera GT, Porsche 959, Ferrari F40, Ferrari Enzo?
I almost bought three different Carrera GT's. All were priced at least $120k or more under MSRP over a three year span. I Didn't like the harshness and lack of flywheel for working the clutch and decided against all three. Now, with the introduction of the 918 Spyder, the values on all three went back up $150K ON AVERAGE. Again, to punctuate Tomy's point, "What does a guy who embraces old Alphas know"? While the Carrera Gt was priced substantially above the Ford GT, both were introduced at the same time. A very close analog.

If you really want to learn skepticism for the pundits, just look at how far out of wack they are when they report on a story where, you, as the reader, have better information. This article is absurd.

The premise that owners of the older model (FGT) will bail out to buy the newer model (NGT) is the novice answer if we are talking about Ferrari, Porsche or Lamborghini. Speaking as one who just plunked down a sizable amount on the "older model" and has no intention of buying the newer, there is no rational way to compare the two cars. They are not competitors, but a complimentary pair celebrating different ideas; the FGT is modern V8 Le Mans nostalgia is an engineering package that takes no prisoners. The NGT is Ford showing what the modern version of a Le Mans winner looks like...two great cars, but certainly not competitors for the same buyer. Indeed, lots of guys on here will have both and will consider selling neither.

Yawn...

Never fear Friends I am very sure I will have extra money to spend at Keels & Wheels next year when I look up Keith Martin upon his arrival. With all the Ford Ambassadors involved with this Ford GT Forum we can't loose. We all work every day to introduce new buyers to fun world of Ford GT excitement and ownership and that's why the Ford GT will just keep increasing in value! I'll bet Keith ask for a ride in my 2017 GT when I arrive, I'll collect my money first then we'll see about that ride. I can hardly wait till Next Year Friends! PS This is Keith's Speed.

Nothing to do with SCM but I 100% agree with the statement above. I have (often unfortunately) been personally aware/involved in 3-4 events that made it on to the headlines and when I read the news articles I did not recognize the events as I witnessed them.

Let's start a poll - how many new GT recipients will have to sell their 05/06 cars to get the new one? I'm guessing that number will be super-low. The author is trying to introduce mass market-vehicle sensibilities into a car that is a 100% emotional purchase. He is FOS!

I doubt any single owner FGT sold for the NGT, however, I think a few multiple FGT owners have sold a car...or unloaded some other cars.

I'm not sure that many folks will volunteer for that poll (though I do know of one or two already).

That said, I think that Nautoncall is exactly right. The market for any car thins out when you get to around a half mil, so if multiple FGT owners were to thin the collection, you could have a supply/demand imbalance. For a little while.

Yup

Not sure why, but SCM has always seemed to have a rather negative view on the Ford GT (and the 69-70 Boss 302 too)

Written by a bunch of hacks. Their track record of predicting values has been poor to say the least.

Well I had a very interesting conversation with Keith Martin at Keels & Wheels this weekend about the write up on "selling 05-06 Ford GT's". He told me he wasn't surprised about my opinion on the subject but he had never seen any model increase in value when a new model was introduced and reminded me that Ford Dealers had problems selling the GT's in the second year. He told me what his Ferrari friends thought of the GT and I very politely cut him off and ask him not to compare our GT Forum group to the very strange Ferrari groups. Well I now have a little wager with him that I think the GT will hold its value and increase in popularity even when the New GT hits the street when collectors realize they will never be able to own one but they can purchase an 05-06 GT. He and I will meet again in one year and see what the market has done then! He also told me he didn't write the article and that one of his auto friends wrote it after collecting the auction data. My conclusion to this subject is this, what does a guy who lives and breaths old Alfa's knows about the Ford GT values? We'll meet again next year and I do understand his position as a magazine publishers job, To SELL HIS MAGAZINE. Enough said!

Reminds me of why I stopped buying Business Week magazine. It got old reading their claims that their predictions were always accurate but if you re-read the magazine, you would find they publish several opinions and the odds of being right were 100%! Good luck Tomy. I hope you collect on your wager.:thumbsup
