sonic blue car

Someone on Ebay is selling 4 '05s and a Heritage. He claims the blue 05 is the Sonic Blue car. Wasn't that one auctioned for charity?

Yes, and that's who bought it. Those are all real vehicles but I'm not sure how realistic they will be on price. I called and offered 500k on the Sonic Blue car on behalf of a friend a few months ago and the owner of the dealership who bought all those cars told me he had already turned down 500k for the Heritage. If that was true, big, big mistake. :lol The Sonic Blue was bought at the Cattle Baron's Ball for something in the 300's.

That is in fact the Sonic Blue car. I do believe this will ultimately be one of the two or three most valuable GT's produced.

And just why is the Heritage worth $500M? Is it the first one painted as such off the line?

It's not. It's just like any other Heritage. I wasn't sure if he was just telling me that trying to think I'd get pumped up on the price of the blue car or if it was a true story. If they did in fact turn down 500k for a Heritage, they lost about 280k.

So they want $3,000,000.00 as a starting bid for all 5 cars?

Yeah. I think is probably just one of those "list it and let's see what the callers say" auctions. No way are they crazy enough to think they will bring anywhere near that.

Sure looks that way..... what deal only 600k each. Or if you prefer 200k each and 2.2m for the Sonic.

From the add:
"4 2005 MODELS 2 RED 1 BLACK AND 1 SONIC BLUE(THE ONLY 1 MADE) AND 1 2006 HERITAGE BLUE. "

super fly Lincoln Mk8 next to the heritage

Ironic we were just discussing this car last week......

So they want $3,000,000.00 as a starting bid for all 5 cars?

Ok, in todays market, the MOST (in my opinion) the sonic blue car is worth is $500k and thats to the right end user. The red cars on there best day are worth $180k and I am being genorous on that, the black car is a $200k MAX and the heritage is a $250k max as there are other new heritage cars out there for sale MUCH cheaper. SO, add all the number above I gave and you get $1,310,000. So, they have a $3,000,000 starting bid (reserve NOT met :lol ) which is about 3x what they are worth HIGH HIGH retail. Best of luck with that one. Maybe they are not watching the same news channel I am.....

I agree - sonic blue will likely be the most valuable GT going forward.

Anyone know where the silver no stripe car that was sold at Carroll Shelby's auction went? Original vin 0003 "Quicksilver" car which sold for 530k at barrett jackson... probably in texas with all the other silver no stripes, ex mine! :biggrin

Always fun to watch the experts on this board and others. We watched Ford GT #1065 hammer down for $1,465,000 at RM Monterey last August. It was a street version that was in nice condition, painted now Azure Blue with a racing stripe and sporting Hallibrands instead of the Borrani's. Impressive sale.

Oh yes, we watched it sell at RM auction in London in '07 for $2,041,380. The owner added 4 miles to her, figure $125,000 per mile for the hit.

I'm not so sure about that. It is rare. Definitely one of one, but it's only a special color...nothing more, unless I am mistaken Definitely not the time to be selling these cars. It IS the time to BUY though. I think I'm in pretty good shape on "Nardo" and to me it is ONE of the rarest GT's....I don't think you can single out a particular one.....but track history and rare items on the car make it special...or at least to me and that is all that matters. You have to have a history or story to put with a car ... not just the only pink elephant ever made. I want to buy another GT. Just sitting back, ready to attack!

Assuming it remains in good condition, it is the only *true* unique street Ford GT. Assuming there are hundreds of relatively low mile GT's available in 30 years, I doubt much will be worth more than the only car that had a factory authorized paint job not available to the public. And it has a story behind it.

no question, that will be a special car... will it make the SP500?

The listing shows someone already placed the opening 3 million dollar bid :eek and the reserve is not met. Does that sound right??:confused

I wonder what the reserve is?

no

Ok DBK or somebody refresh my memory. Who was the Ford exec who had the custom paint job done. And why or how did it fall into this seller's hands.

Oh yea if you see Jac the knife Nasser on the streets of Detroit please punch him in the f###ing gut for putting Ford in the position they are today.

IMO I would rather be holding the Nardo car, but there may be a story not yet told on the Sonic!!

Chris Theodore had the paint job done on the sly and when they found out they said no dice and sold it at a charity auction. The owner of the dealership, OC Welsh is the original owner of the vehicle. I do believe he bought it at the ball to benefit cancer research because he had lost a daughter to cancer. I'm sure that makes the vehicle hold a great deal of sentimental value to him so I'm sure he parts with it with some trepidation.

I knew Jac's son when I lived in the UK. I will reserve the dirt from those days for a Rally IV story if you're around.
