Gentlemen,

At just completed Rally V, I gave out 3 "Thanks of the Forum" Awards but our recipient of one of them, Joe Dozzo, was not present. I hoped that somebody in attendance lived close to him in Colorado so they could deliver it. No such luck. For the last couple weeks I've been contemplating how I would ship this thing without breaking the UV protectant glass front. Most of the packages I receive marked "Fragile" are crushed flat and I believe that the more "handle with care" signs you put on a package, the harder it gets hurled around. As I would be really bummed if this thing got destroyed, I decided to build a hell for stout shipping container. I took that project on this morning with a trip to Home Depot for plywood and fastening screws, and after a lengthy search, a trip to Jo Annes for several sheets of 2 inch thick foam rubber. Measurements made, plywood and end piece lumber sawed, foam rubber sheets cut to size, holes drilled, screws affixed, and rough edges sanded off. The damn thing will probably still get destroyed in transit but we have certainly given it our best preservation effort. :lol I will launch it tomorrow and hope for the best. You will have it by Wednesday Joe. All the best.

Interested to know how you ship it (ground, assumed) and how much! Looks like a tank!

God almighty--he should hang it in the box. I am lazy and would have dumped it in a FedX box.

It will take that poor bastard hours to open that.

Nice job though.

Chip - i got some sea shells and corals i need you to build a box for me so i can ship them and not have to worry about them breaking. can you help me out?

i'm just kidding. nice work :thumbsup

Chip, Joe asked that you should ship it to me instead.

You've really outdone yourself with this one! I cannot wait to see this arrive at the office and the stir it will cause.

Dinner's gonna have to be on me - don't care where or when it is... LeMans next year, Rally 6 or maybe even Denver!

Definitely WAY above the call of duty...

Thanks Chip!!!!!

Some old newspapers, a used cardboard box & 3 rolls of duct tape would have worked also but yours, Chip, is too cool!

Can you also send the tools needed to open it ;-) . It looks strong enough to withstand being shot at...which I had the pleasure of trying for the first time a few days ago - that was a lot of fun.

Next time I move you are hired to pack my house. :lol

Chip - I'm just blown away....

Award arrived a few minutes ago and it's in perfect shape. And it contained yet another great surprise, the autographs on the back.

Dash plaque arrived too! Today's been better than Christmas!!!
