My stock shift knob is scratched to hell so Im thinking of going with a simple aftermaket round knob.

Are the threads on the GT shifter the same as ones on a Mustang shifter?

Im looking at these knobs http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/shiftknobs/m1abrams-shiftknobs.html and they have a Mustang application and other Ford applications but dont list a GT application on the site (not surpsingly).

Any input would be appreciated.

I am now a shift knob expert, having spent 90 seconds replacing mine with a MOMO. All the MOMO's fit and there are dozens to choose from. As a surprise bonus, the MOMO's are drilled deeper than the OEM knob and therefore sit down further on the shaft, if you prefer.

I havent really been able to find a momo I like. Im looking for a simple round knob with a satin finish, pretty close to the stock knob maybe heavier would be nice.

I like the ball in the FRPP M-7213-GT, but the included sleeve is a little too long for the FRPP Short Throw Shifter, M-7210-GT. So, I've just used the ball, and put the sleeve away for posterity. The ball is the same as the OEM ball, but chromed and with "FORD GT" milled around the side.

You could chuck the sleeve in a lathe to shorten it.

I'm like this with sex, having spent 90 seconds............. damn, did I just say that out loud? :lol

I was thinking of doing that. But, when I initially installed it as is (it grabs about 2 threads in the ball), I didn't like the proportions of the fatter looking shaft. So, I kept the newer ball without the sleeve which looks nicer to me.

Hi Kumar, here's an option. I bought one but it's lighter than stock and I didn't like the black look. Mine's for sale if anyone wants it. I paid $39.95 plus shipping. I'll take $30 and I'll pay the shipping (in the states) .

BTW, you want a knob thats fits 79 to 2004 Mustangs.

Here's mine... in my opinion, MUCH better than the original.

That OEM chunk of aluminum gets kinda' warm sitting out in the Sun around here...

I finally said "No Mas" and ordered the new one from Summit.

Yes, that is a Hurst knob for a Mustang w/ 6 spd.... specially equipped with a theft deterring shift pattern on the top with reverse indicated in the the far upper right position.

and it says Hurst on the side too.

I've got the opposite problem down here in New Zealand being the middle of winter, the shifter's colder than....well....something very, very cold! And takes forever to warm up. If someone invents an electric shifter warmer put me down for one.
