looking for something closer to the ocean beach pier.thanks

The Hyatt in Mission Bay is a good choice too.

can't go wrong with the Hilton.

Hilton: Resort & Spa, Bayfront, Gaslamp = all different

There's also the Bahia

I like the San Diego Marriott and Marina, next to downtown and on the water. Easy walking distance to restaurants and the Midway (a great tour), they allow small dogs (important for me), less than a mile from the Gas Lamp District, reasonable prices, good service and 4 stars.

North of downtown but on the beach and reasonable.

Agree. But you do have to endure endless reminders that "Some like it Hot" was shot there. Not a top 10 resort but gorgeous setting.

I stayed at the Hilton Resort and Spa. It's right on the beach and has other watersport stuff too like jet skis. It's close to Sea World too.

A lot of good recommendations. Marriott or Hyatt in downtown are great hotesl and are right on the Bay.. but no beach. Hilton on Mission Bay is nice... and there is a beach but it is on the bay not the ocean. Hotel Del is on the beach and not too far from Ocean beach if you have a car. I can't really think of too many hotels that are right on the beach. La Jolla has a few that are pretty close. If you come across a couple that you are trying to settle on, send me a PM and I'll put some feelers out for you.

Check out Paradise Point Resort - it's right in the middle of Mission Bay...Zoom into it with Google Maps.
