I was just looking for a Christmas present and went to www.controller.com and typed in P-51 and at the top of the list is Ron's "Red Dog" P-51 Mustang for sale. If it's the same quality as his cars I'm sure it's in the stratosphere as far as price goes. The FAA registry as of 2011 showed 204 privately owned P-51's in the US. Once sold as surplus for as little as $1,500 apiece according to Wikipedia. Any pilots here have the foresight to put one away?

Man...that would be a great addition to ANY collection!

Was there an asking price?

Gentlemen,

This is just about the only machine I'd rather have than my new Ford GT. Ron's P-51 is a real show piece and is probably double the price of most P-51's. I'd estimate 4 million.

How has the overall market been for WWII fighters in the last couple of years? I have heard that its stagnating but haven't followed it in a while.

I thought he liquidated his car collection to focus on his planes, now his prized P-51 is up for sale?
