Anyone running Road Atlanta next weekend? I usually run the MVP circuit with Big Inch Blake but I believe that he is hunting. Just wondering if anyone else might be signed up.

yep, but taking different cars. had the gt there couple of weeks ago. running the mighty spec miata this time

John,

You and Ben both have some fun cars including Spec Miatas. What is the difference you enjoy in these totally different horsepowered vehicles.

Just Curious

Yep wish I could be there but will be setting in deer stand. Drive safe, have a great time and remember "This Is Not A Race".

BTW- Any rumors of MVP being back at COTA? I am ready even if they price it higher.....

Not sure MVP will make COTA happen. Last email from those guys was COTA has the price jacked way up maybe just to discourage them. However, Chin may have an early Feb date. Should hear soon and will pass it along.

As to Miata driving, it's all about momentum management. Nicely balanced cars and we love the bump and grind racing. 60 cars on track on a rolling start is pretty cool. In a given race, the top 10 finishers are usually within one second of each other on lap times, top 5 can share the same 1/2 second. Great skills and racecraft to keep the car going. Make even a small mistake or over brake and there is no horsepower to bail you out. And, best of all, it's pretty cheap fun. Like the guy said "it's racing in slow motion, crashing in slow motion and spending in slow motion".....

We're doing some lead-follow work and studying some data this weekend. Almost like work.

John,

Thanks, I had heard learning in a miata makes you a better driver. I find the door to door of Lemons is really fun and inexpensive. $500 yea right!!! hahaha You need to come watch us in a Lemons race sometime. One of the first conversations I had with Mark H. was about doing Lemons and Chump races. He went to a race at Daytona and was saying where else can you get two days of fun track time for under 500 at DAYTONA.

Ya'll have fun and keep us updated on any COTA info. Just today bought a used American Iron car and will start playing with it. Save the Nascar for Big Bend Open Road Race and other play days.

Let me clarify the lap times that happen ; the top 10 finishers usually are in the SAME one second and top 5 are in the SAME .5 second. It's actually closer racing than F1. Pretty awesome. I suck though, hence the practice.

I talked to Mark this week. COTA is still up in the air but a definite possibility. We should know if it's a go soon as I think the proposed dates are 1/31, 2/1 & 2/2.
