Removing storage net hooks

I'm trying to remove the black knobs behind the seats that the storage nets hook onto.

These things are screwed down pretty tight..too tight to be unscrewed by hand. They don't seem to accept normal tools either.

Is there a trick to getting these unscrewed.....without having to strip the black knobs?

I used a smooth set of high leverage pliers. Did not mar the plastic. You will also find that under the "knob" there is a double threaded stud, about half of them stayed on the car (vs with the knob). To get these out, I used 2 nuts, tightened on them selves, to be able to get a wrench on then to spin out the stud.
