Removing Rear Clamshell

I know the easiest way to remove the rear clamshell is to have a couple of buddies hold the clam while the pins are pulled.

My questions is, how do you disconnect the clam from the hydraulic struts that hold the clam open? Do you remove the three bolts and the plate that connect to the clam? or can you just disconnect the struts at the little ball joint? If so how?

Thank in advance,
Eric

Just slip a small screw driver blade under the spring clip on top of the ball end and pull the ball end off the stud. Easy! The Clam shell needs to be rotated 1/2 closed and then slid forward to come out of the hinge. When re-installing slide the hinges together 1/2 closed and then open up full. They hold the allignment until you slip the pins back in. Put a little oil on the pins before you remove them. Dry stainless is hard to slide.
