I've read all of the previously posted threads I could find on this subject.
Although it can be tricky, I had no problem (after a couple of tries) separating the two-piece cap. I read about the possibility of cross-threading when installing the 3-eared chrome plated plastic center and the suggestion to use some lube, such as Vaseline, on the threads.
Still, on my new 3-eared caps, I can't seem to get them screwed into the wheel more than 1/3 of a turn until they begin to bind up. I'm reluctant to force it due to how easily a molded plastic thread can be crossthreaded and ruined.
Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks on how to mount these centers and/or am I doing something incorrectly on what should be a very easy, no-brainer installation?
Thanks, usmcfred
