Came back from a nice drive down to North Carolina 2 days ago. Backed the GT out to wash her, and heard a loud "whinning" noise when I started the car up. Turned the steering wheel both ways and the noise increased a bit. Checked the power steering fluid level, and I think it is low. I'm not sure where the min-max level indicaters are in the reservoir, but the level is below a dark line around the inside of the reservoir. I'll pick up some Mercon ATF tomorrow. Any other thoughts on what could be causing this? Thanks.

Check your hoses, I believe Pete from Maryland had and issue with a hose letting go a few years back.

Steve, I had a PS pump replaced under warranty ~ 5 yr's ago.... 2 yr.'s into car....

started as leak found during belly pan drop where fluid trail seeped to rear.... checked all hoses, left pan off overnight, cleaned PS pump off. moved car.... woke up next AM and found quarter size spot on floor in different spot

Had the same thing happen to me. Same exact wine. PS hose was the culprit. If you see red fluid on the garage floor, you know what to do. If it has leaked enough, driving it without fluid could damage the pump. Good luck.
