Opinions on purchase sought

I realize I am over analyzing this purchase, but that's just what I do. :wink

Ive done my research, talked with owners, ridden in examples, and narrowed down my color selection (white or tungsten).

This car will be a 3rd car and I'll put roughly 1000 miles per year on it. If its like most cars Ive owned (which it is not) I'll keep it 3 years.

The big question (for me, at least) is mileage. Do I buy a 1000 mile garage queen and pay in the $160k range, look at something that's taken a bit of a hit and getting closer to 8-10k miles, or buy a driver with 10k+ miles and not worry about miles?

My gut says one end of the spectrum (1000 mile car) or the other (10k+ car). I realize there is probably a $30k difference.

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated. I realize many of them will be "just buy it and drive it" and "don't look back". :biggrin

Net Net - I can't imagine that many (a dozen maybe) GT's have been abused. The miles are insignificant.

Just get the one you like and don't look back.....what's behind you doesn't matter.!:thumbsup
 
My car has near 10,000 miles and as many others have posted about their cars (some with 30,000 miles), runs flawlessly.
For a $30,000 price difference, I personally would MUCH sooner buy a fully documented, well cared for, and carefully inspected car with 15k miles over a 1000 mi car. The mileage is less important than the documentation (no stories) and a thorough PPI.

Use the $30k difference to personalize it and take a few nice vacations !

BTW - I have the very same purchasing characteristics that you just described.

These bad boys are bullet proof.....just not idiot dealership lot jockey proof.:ack
 
tungsten is the best color! And it is the fastest just look at star wars millenium falcon it does light speed much faster the the white! End of Story you lose white, dont even respond. that is it. light speed can-t beat that. Even the USS Enterprise from Star Trek with warp 10, An I mean 10 WOW, WoW, WOW. was tungsten. End of story. beat that!

Just becuase I own a tungsten has no bearing on the babel...................
 
Ten years from now, you won't be grateful for all the experiences that you DIDN'T have with your GT because you were saving the miles. Paying a huge premium for a super low mileage car simply makes you feel worse about driving it...life is way too short to deny yourself the pleasure of the drive in favor of the guy who you will eventually sell the car to.

My GT now has about 9500 miles on it and as far as I am concerned, that's way, way too few. I'd be ten times happier with ten times the miles, because I would have ten times the memories. I aim to correct that this summer:thumbsup
 
I also don't drive mine enough (5K). I took her out for a spin today. Wow I am an idiot for not driving her more. Life is to short. I use to worry about the miles, but not anymore looking; forward to many miles of memories this summer. I am not going to save her so someone else can enjoy her on my dime. I am going to get my money's worth. Buy and enjoy brother!!!!

Oh, you aren't going to sell her in 3 years, this isn't an ordinary ride. Choose the one that you like the best, that makes you most excited. Because that feeling doesn't go away. Buy your second choice because it fit your "profile" and you'll always be wishing you hadn't.
 
On Mileage, why not split the difference? Say 3,000 to 7,000 miles. Save a little on cost of entry over the 1000 car and not feel you are tied to maintaining it as a super low mile car. :wink

I would not be scared of the miles if you plan to drive it. Another thing to consider, you may wind up wanting to mod it to your liking, the saved $ can be used for that......
 
If you feel you must buy a garage queen (to store it for its next owner), at least buy a 2nd one to drive, modify, have fun with, and enjoy the company of other forum members at the rallies and other events.
 
Yes life is short. Too bad i don't have time to drive mine. Time to let someone else drive her...2k Miles.

I leave Friday for the Big City (Apple) & will not be home until Sunday Evening. I will miss you all once again.
 
Measured my door today... 8ft on the money.
 
My previous 2006 GT had 20k miles on it when I sold it in January 2010. It was running like a champ. And frankly, was in better condition than the 2005 I purchased 4-5 months earlier.

My 2005 I purchased had about 5k miles on it when I purchased it about 10 months ago. My wife and I took it for a spin on Friday and the odometer read 9,500.

Love 'em and love it more when I'm driving it!

Having said that, I hope to purchase several GT's in the future. And one of them I plan to pay the $$$ for and let it be a garage queen.

BUY IT AND DRIVE IT .
You need to change you mind set !!
I have driven 3 GTs with 50k and 1 with 68k Its amazing how well built they are .I had to look at the odometer to believe it !
