Nice to see that Ford didnt lower themselves to the level of GM and CHRYSLER.
This payout was whore money . Bill Ford looks pretty smart now , since they laid people of 2 years ago when the other 2 should have been doing it! Its tuff all around but a family buisness always HAS FAMILY OBLIGATIONS. Dummy gm/chrysler boards are just old men looking for stock options!!!!! CHEERS FORD!! YOU WILL SURVIVE!!!! just my opinion....gtjoey 1314
p.s. im buying my 2006 06 lincoln, after the lease even though its 11,000 over book value, ITS A FAMILY THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup

I have an 03 Pontiac Sunfire I'll let you have for $35,000 Joey. It gets way better mileage than the Lincoln.

Joey!
When did the Christmas drinking start in your office?

What does pride have to do with fighting to survive?

Please,.... Have some black coffee without Makers Mark.

Merry Christmas!
Bony

I appreciate it but you get it my friend, maybe its because most of us on this site if not all are buisness owners, have some capacity of survival,we want to succeed.I really dont care if it cost me 20 cents more per gallon, its an overall survival/accomplishment thing. Its like your kids, they cost the mint, is it worth it of course! if they take advantage , WELL THEN THE BEATINGS COME OUT:lol .Sad fact im now my parents, my kids are bigger and stronger than me so they can beat me up if im not good:lol:lol FORD WILL SURVIVE, WE NEED THAT STATUE TO LOOK UP TO.......KIND OF LIKE KIDS TO PARENTS... ENJOY GTJOEY 1314:thumbsup

Should I sell my wife's Corvette and my Chev SS pu before parts become an issue? Oldsmobile....the first in a series! I guess she could drive the NARDO car and would be safe at 5mph.....perhaps best for my teenage daughter:thumbsup I can always use my Cobra or Lightninig pu to tow. Anyone have a used Cobra receiver hitch?

Ford Rules :usa

To me, the important item is that GM and Chrysler may be able to stay in business, which helps Ford suppliers (those that supply all 3) stay in business, preventing a collapse in the supply train.

If GM and Chrysler file under any of the Chapters available dozens of suppliers will also be forced to do the same.... it will be a disaster. Ralphie is correct. Also, GM and Chrysler will take Ford with them,.... very simple.

It is sad, but here in Detroit this morning, the fights have already started...Labor is not going to concede, Gettlefinger spouting off again, Stabenow (Senator) saying it is too much for labor to take, we already "gave" for 2011.....
The VEBA is untouchable - except to delay payment.. and we will NOT relinquish our golden, pay all Health care plans..

The Creditors are nervous and about 20 more companies were put on Credit watch. It is going to be a golden opportunity lost in my opinion if they continue to 'play it' this way.
However, all of the articles and quotes end with "We will wait until Obama is in office and the 'labor friendly' congress will help us out."
So maybe we should not worry.

Sorry Bony, a bit of politics here, but it is heavily in play in this situation.

Part of the "bailout" should read..........."and to remove, dissolve and disban any and all unions and/or ties and affiliates in any way".

I agree 100%

At least the unions are thinking it through in a logical way..."We refuse to give up our benefits and pay, if that makes you go out of business, that's fine by us!" Soooo, who's going to give you your benefits and pay??? Should be a no brainer if you ask me.

You ask who is going to give them their pensions & benefits? It's us again my friend.

Pay will come in the form of welfare. The pensions will be taken on by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. If the unions negotiate away the pensions, then I would posit that PBGC would not be on the hook.

If the Big 3 go down, the pensions will be picked up by the taxpayer.

The Unions are looking down the road farther than March '09.....and the game of chicken continues.

Good point!

It's not a one way street. Or is it?

If "they" take away the pensions from the Union members, will they have the balls to take away the stock otions and pensions from the retired manage-
ment wizards that chose to give-in during the negotiations for those contracts rather than put the members on strike.

According to me that's what should be done. While I am a union employer (construction not mfg) for the last 40 years, I was usually the first to say "let them strike". Didn't always go my way, but then again that is part of negotiations.

While I'm at it...........pretty bad that the "powers that be" are allowing the incentive bonus's in the Mortgage, Bond and Banking world to go forward.

If I was in charge .... 100% of the bonus fund (Billions) would be donated DIRECTLY to the 3,000,000 or so upside down mortgagees. Reduce their principle and give them a standard 30 year mortgage at reasonable terms.

Not sure if it would Solve The Problem but it would be a PR grand slam.

Chime in folks. We on this Forum may find the Ultimate Solution.

That's my $ .02.

Which is about how much I earned on 200k in the local savings bank today.

How about adding " QUIT BUILDING AMERICAN CARS IN MEXICO, AND EVERY OTHER COUNTRY BUT THE US!" Remember what helped start this whole mess was our shipping all the jobs out of the country. Pretty hard to buy a new car when your job got moved to India, China, et al. :frown

Better lobby the congress to stop passing eco laws that make many processes in the US cost prohibitive. In isn't just labor costs, it eco and accounting regulation costs as well. Nothing free!

First off I would make the financial companies that don't appear to know how to manage themselves sell their private jets. They only cost about 30-100 million a piece and another 20000 to fuel up and use from coast to coast. no more 20 million dollar bonuses to CEO's that think they are irreplaceable. higher someone youger and pay them 200k a year.

I would like to see the auto industry not devalue their own product by offering such big rebates. I'm not a fan of Toyota at all but if we can learn anything from them its that they offer crap for rebates and they dont depreciate.

I agree with restructuring people's mortgages and getting them a reasonable rate on a 30-term.

if any of you have a failing company are the feds going to bail you out?? i dont think so.

i kind of think America needs to fall before we can get up and be strong again. we need to see that the luxuries we have are privileges and that we arent invincible as a country.

Your thinking is 110% flawed.
Do you really believe that CEO's and their teams should fly Southwest Airlines?
Do you really believe someone making $75k should get a restructure on their $600k mortage?
Do you really believe that most management is not worthy?
Don't want to be cruel, but you have been drinking the wrong stuff... sorry.

One of the major issues facing Chrysler is that they don't have factories all over the world to produce their products, thus they are not a capable world manufacturer.

Period. Chrysler is ****ed no matter how this plays out. You can't build cars for the U.S alone and survive.
