I am curious to see what people are using for replacement tires on the new FGT(or GT350-R)? For those who have gone through a set of the Cup 2's, did you all go back to them or get something more durable/streetable for regular non tract use?

Is there a tire that is good for both the tract and street, aside from the OEM rubber with higher treadware rating and better in the wet?

Thanks
Simon

Chandler,Arizona.
For the new Ford GT, I'm using these, Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT tires. The noise from debris sticking to the tires and being thrown all over the car went from the sound of a hail storm to quiet as my '05 GT street tires. These are the only set of matching street tires available (front and rear by same maker, tread style etc.) in exact OEM sizes. Available at Tire Rack. Understand they do not come up if you search by car make/model. You have to search by tire size and tire maker. Check them out and see if they are right for you.

I'd go with Michelin Pilot Supersports on the GT350R if you aren't going to track it much.

You’re giving up a lot if you switch out the PSC2s, fabulous tyres and in the greater scheme of things, not too expensive to replace.

This would be my thought as well.

If the car is going to be used for than 75% on the street, the Pilot Supersport is a far better choice, and it's not terrible on track either. But yeah, the Cup tire is on the R model for a reason!

I had to order the Dunlop SP Maxx GTs from both TireRack (rears) and Discount Tire (fronts). Neither had both sizes. Stock of the rears appear to be very thin at the moment. I will get these mounted up onto my BBS wheels and report back. But first the car needs to arrive - June 7th!

If you are mostly cruising in town or driving on the freeway a lot then go for less sticky tires. On the twisties, road or track, stay with the PSC2s. They bring out the greatness in the chassis & suspension.

Totally agree!
I made that mistake on My 08 GT2
Changed right back to Sport cups. Killed the handling!
Took all the fun out of exit ramps!
Don’t do it! The car was engineered for sport tires and sport driving
