Has anyone replaced the charger clamps with something more permanently mounted or easier like eyelets etc? If so, what did you do? Thanks

I did, it was a very simple mod. There is a red cap that covers the pos post and just under it is a black plastic cover, just pop it off exposing a threaded pos post and the threaded neg post is already exposed. Snip the ends off the charger clamps (or go on Amazon and purchase a exact 2nd set but with eyelets), install eyelets to ends of wires and then eyelets on the exposed Neg and pos posts.

Excellent idea Steve. The first thing I asked my delivery specialist was how to delete the aligator clips and install a more permanent solution.

Hmmm. Looks like a CTEK connector. Did they make the charger for Ford?

I left my OEM still wrapped in plastic. Got a Ctek, I just leave the alligator clamps on the jump posts, and simply unplug the quick connect, and leave the alligator clamps attached.

Ferrari has the best ever tender — a Magnetic piece that simply connects above the rear bumper. No clamps, dangling cords. Easy.

Would you mind sharing a picture ? Every time I take a look at the magnetic charge cable (MagSafe) on an Apple MacBook I wonder why noone did something comparable on a car.

yes the SLS does have a magnetic connection in the trunk and you can buy the pieces and make your own. I will be doing this to my 05 GT shortly ..

you will need both pieces

The 488 has it outside the trunk which is a major ease of use factor

Why not just use the cigarette lighter adapter? Since it's pretty obvious from the drivers seat when it's plugged in, there's less chance you'll drive off with the tender still connected!

What model did you purchase?

Neat find- thanks for posting! Where are you planning to mount the fixed piece on your 05? I have ordered the 3 piece set to try. The set is a better deal than buying the parts separately. The third piece is a flip up cover which looks like it will clean up the installation when not in use.

when I purchased mine the three piece set was not available but I also bought a few more sets to try out on other cars. I have not decided where to install it on the 05 yet but it will be somewhere under the car that will be easily reached from the outside for a quick connect. the cool thing about these, is that incase you forget to disconnect them you can drive away and they will just come loose without too much drama.
