New to Me, Ford GT

Thanks DBK - I was wondering what happened to all that video. Looking forward to more.

95,000 plus smiles here. And I have definately not stopped putting :biggrin miles on the GT (which= Still Very Much Alive)

Nothing is more fun than a warm welcome! Thanks for all. Looked at the NO event... already scheduled a big 'guy party' to watch a game. Gosh, wonder what car I'm going to drive!?! Shoulda bought the car earlier so I could do both!

FWI, Treadwell Ford in Mobile is great to service GTs, I've used them for 5 years. The GT trained technician's name is Dragan, he's great.

Now THAT is great to know. I've no idea if or whom a tech at our local dealership would be. Good to have a backup.

Congratulations on an awesome purchase; one that will certainly change your life!!!! Next stop - MODS!!! LOL

Well, so far, so good. Didnt' get to spend much time with it last night, but zipped around a short loop before pulling into the parking garage at work. Yes, I practice safe parking.

After work, got familiar with the seating, the doors (sort of), the layout. Squeezed on the throttle a bit - when pointed straight - and marvelled at the smooth gearbox. (Have two F-cars that are very, uh, 'notchy', being kind with that word.) The car is one planted feeling machine, yet has greatly compliant suspension. A stab on the brakes is like an aircraft carrier strap: pow! you're stopped.

Love the interior, even has a few quirky "prototype" like touches. The lack of storage space is something I'll either get used to or not. I literally could NOT find a place to put the little magnetic security card. I mean, not even a pocket, so I slipped it in the little cubby for the manual.

The power and the look are what I find completely intoxicating. My wife, who's not really a 'car person' though has been around me for 27 years, being dragged to shows, putting up with several dozen that followed me home, loves the look of the car. Actually wanted to go for a ride, "just to go". Hasn't happened in a long time.

Just looked out the window where its parked. Now, the second set of oglers in about 90 minutes have stopped to take pictures. A magnetic car.

Congrats and welcome!
There are little mesh pockets on the front of the seat bottoms.
Pics or it didn't happen.

...and a small cubby, console right and forward.

If you'll look at the very front of the seats, there's a 'cargo net' across each of them (betcha didn't know that! the rest of us didn't either initially!) You could store the security card there and no thief would EVER find it! :wink

HA! You're right. Let me admit now that I'm an 11 year old in Norway who like GT much more better! I have the worlds worst I-phone pic from the trucker, but once I get 2 days of misting road grime off of it (Saturday) pics a'plenty!

That's the one I called the manual pouch. It fits in there perfectly, isn't that for the manual???

Good one. Thanks guys. The Viper has this same arrangement, had no idea it was in the GT. I'll search, but I'm thinking the subwoofer has got to go and a console or SOME type storage thing would be preferred. I guess these are made by some enterprising soul. (I literally have not even turned on the radio yet. V8 orchestra just fine.)

You've got it right. GTs are like mammaries of the fairer sex (& I don't think I'm alone here) I've seen pictures of thousands and hundreds in person but am always ready to see new pics, even of ones I've seen before. Dirty or clean.

IDK. I throw other crap in there...wallet, sunglasses. My manual goes in the pocket behind the driver seat.

When you do the Sub relocate, you can install the Mac delete storage rack.

Also, Kip Ewing has 2 different pop up console cubbies available. One requires some console surgery, the one I got does not.

Congratualtions on the car and welcome to the site as you will be able to read for days and not touch the amount of info available on the car on this forum, best forum out there

Before you even think of power mods (the lesser ones like a pulley and tune that give you another 100 HP for about $1500.00), take your time and think real hard. The reason I say it, is because I wasted the 1st 1-2K in lower HP (100-110) gains, when at the end of the day, I just scrapped all that and went for another almost 300 (soon to be more) HP or so by going Whipple. That's a one day install + Dyno.

Taking this thing up to 800 WHP will absolutely blow your mind, even if you never see a track (I don't). The "F" cars you refer to don't put the same shit-faced grin on one's face as an 800 WHP GT. It's a relatively inexpensive mod - and you still don't touch the engine, so you get pretty close to factory reliability and a car that puts the power down to the pavement faster than a 600CC Super Sport race bike - and those are insanely quick. I'd say that my white GT is closer to my Kawasaki ZX14 (1400 CC Superbike) than my Viper or my Z06 - in terms of straight line balls to the wall acceleration. For sure, my bikes will eat the GT for lunch, however, an 800 HP GT is seriously fast...makes ALL other cars feel slow. Someone please step in and correct me if I'm wrong...

BTW, I'm still looking for the cargo net in my Viper that you claim has the same arrangement...which Viper and which year? I don't see it in my '08 SRT10...

Sorry to be awhile getting back. My Viper is a Gen II (2000 GTS) and the cargo net thing is attached to the front of the seat, very similar to GT.

And FINALLY, a 'not all that great' photo of the car...
