No. There is no new GT. Let's kill this rumor before it starts.

I hear it's gonna look like the MKIV and have 700hp but it still won't beat a SLR.:frown: lol

I hear it looks JUST like a mustang and they added some numbers to the name. 500 numbers. :willy

I hear they didnt like the new look so they threw the cars away.

Hey, tp, just where/from whom did you hear this? :skep

('Just curious.)

At the rally one of the Ford guys (the innocent shall remain nameless) told me that the MkIV was VERY close to development, but was killed.

Remember, at the last rally they asked would we want one. Some of you deeper pockets guys said "yes". Well, almost made it apparently ............

I could live with a mark IV at big dollars - wouldn't influence the GT a bit.

New Ford GT - not in our lifetime

Won't happen. Not from Ford ever again. Look to Saleen possibly but don't hold your breath.

Ed

I heard it is coming and it tastes like chicken. :biggrin

I just put a deposit down on one at my local ford dealer.... refundable $2500 that was it....

To save money, they are outsourcing the new car to a specialty shop in Uzbekistan. They are calling it the Ford TG.:willy

I hear it comes equipped with cupholders, traction control, tow bar, ashtray, stability control and rear seat entertainment console. Can't wait.

And with the new one, you also have the option of grilling where ever you go. Option #7 is the FREEDOM GRILL:

It does however reduce the GT to a single exhaust. :shrug

Actually EP, from a manager in FORD advanced vehicals. He said a company has a order to build 150 cars at a facility near the Wixom plant. One of the experimental techs Father was working on them.

You never know when its hearsay so... DBK I saw your post, and if you want to kill the thread thats fine.

I just wondered if anyone had heard anything.

I can say this we do all the VIN and signature stamps and machines and I have not made any more in the past few months for Ford Romeo other than the GT500 Niche line signature cam cover stamps

That whole thing had nothing to do with Ford. When Chris Theodore got up there and asked those questions, he wasn't asking on behalf of Ford, because he was long gone as a Ford employee. He was asking on behalf of ASC, a specialty vehicle maker, the company he was the VP of at that time. That whole thing was not in the plan for the speakers, and the look on the faces of Hau and a few others was priceless when it started. At that point it was like asking if people would buy a Twin Turbo Viper...irrelevant to Ford Motor Company (and in my opinion, irrelevant to the GT we own because continuations and low volume specialty vehicles virtually never affect the value of production cars).

Someday maybe someone will divulge the details of "Project Maranello" to the public at large, but for now, all that can be said is that short term prospects of any new Ford supercar are extremely close to zero. And in any event, the two viable prospects (now that the third has been eliminated for reasons that should be transparent), would need Derrick Kuzak to say "Hey Mullaly, let's build this car" and Alan to say "Sure thing". The Blue Devil is going to exist because Bob Lutz wants to win the hp war at all costs. At this time, there is no Bob Lutz at Ford to speak of. Car guys get these things built, and they have to be stationed on the 11th and 12th floor. If it were up to the people we know involved with the GT, the GR-1 would already be on it's way.

They know what it would cost. They know what the market is. It's purely a question of rationalizing the allocation of assets you would use in the core business to be used on a low-volume niche product at a time when you are facing the prospect of extinction. I've seen some Ford stuff that is at least 3-4 years out, and miraculously, they have remained completely out of the automotive press/internet. Are they cool? Yes. Are they remotely near the level of the GT? No.

Then again I could be completely wrong...or not :lol

HEDGER!!!!! :lol

Dave, you nailed one right on the head. Car guys on the 11th and 12th floor.... don't exist right now or they are being repressed by the bean counters. Interestingly enough .... Ford does build some cool cars. In Europe right now with an S-max rental. I'll post a pic of it later ... but for what it is ... its kind of cool. Would I trade a GT for it . NO!. But Ford as a company has some great talent in it ... its just repressed a bit much. If I could buy an s-max in the states ... I would. would make a great grocery getter .... too bad I can't.

I am hopeful that Ford gets things together in the next few years and then can come out with something like the GR-1 or next generation green sports car (a real one like the GT ... a clean sheet design).

Headed to the ring saturday .... and the autobahn.... meetings tomorrow (work... work... work).

I don't think Ford really took advantage of the GT production. Other than a couple TV spots and placement on showroom floors no one really heard about it. Pleople still ask what it is, 'a Ford, really?'. such a large section of the public never heard about it at all that the entire purpose of the car seems to have been lost. As far as I can see, the 100 year anniversary of Ford went largely un-noticed.

I wonder if Chevy will do much of anything in 2011? (I think that's when they turn 100) Will it take that long to actually get the blue devil to the public? A supercar, the 'StingRay' without the corvette stigma should be done instead, 1002 HP :banana

I concur. 99 out of 100 GT owners is fanatical about their car/s. The public misses that because Ford did a shitty job combating mis-information on the control arm recall (which affected virtually nobody). Why not take advantage of these people by building the successor?

I've yapped on more than one occasion that there is no reason they can't build 2-3000 Shelby Cobra roadsters per year at a 90-100k price. And they could do it for literally 10 years. The Shelby GT500 is currently the single most profitable vehicle Ford sells. Carroll is 85 years old. If ever there was a time for a legitimate all-new roadster, it is right now.
