Hello,

I recently purchased a 2005 FGT. I enjoy reading thru the posts here but could not find what I was looking for. The car has Kenne Bell HCD, everything else is stock. What I have noticed is if I give it gas in fourth and up I can hear pinging. Is this normal, I am using 91 Octane fuel in Nor Cal. The car was not Dynoed and I am assuming it uses the standard tune.

Thanks,

Allan

Welcome Aboard! :thumbsup

Welcome aboard! You have the fastest color, but you should never hear pinging. There are a number of guys here who can help you with your tune, and I'm sure they will jump in. Get a tune for cheap insurance on a $35K engine, maximum performance, and peace of mind.

Great photo!

Welcome to the site. I would definitely not hammer the car until you get the pinging sorted out. Not too many people have the HCD kit so I would try and ask one of them. User with the name SteveA is one of the one's I'm sure had it.

One of the few reds I've seen with side stripes only.

Welcome! Love the color!!

I too have the Kenne Bell snout (among other mods).
When I got my car it had the smallest pulley (read lots of boost).

Damn near blew up the engine. I think it was tuned for 100 octane. I run 93

Last spring Torrie gave her a proper tune. Net net I'm lucky.. I only melted 2 plugs.

Big RWHP. No fear of a meltdown. Life is good!

It's not the pulley. It's the boost you may be making. Put it on a dyno and get a tune

Well worth it!

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new purchase. Enjoy!

Thanks to all.

Is there anyone in the Bay Area who has the ability to do a tune on a dyno?

Thanks

I too have a KB Snout and it works fine. As others have suggested the problem most probably is the size pulley installed combined with an improper tune. As for the snout there was some concern a few years back that they leak and I too had some oil seeping and collecting under it. As turns out it was slightly over filled and was working it's way out while operating.
Welcome to the forum, enjoy and congrats!

Always liked the red, no stripe. Congrats

Welcome, really nice car choice. Enjoy and be careful in this uncommon CA cold weather.
