My life has changed since 4 days ago - MY TT is finally here!

In August 2007 I saw her for the first time parked outside the Casino in Monte carlo - I stood there speechless for 1 hour just drooling. After that evening I had realized that I can't live without one and I need to have it.
It took me a few weeks to find this forum and after carefully reading everything - I understood that it is exactly what I need, except that I have a 600 HP 911 turbo and I wanted something significantly faster - so I understood thay only a TT would suit my needs :).
Then I found Shelby from Elite autos and my stunning white TT GT!
I have had the best buying experince one could ever get and Shelby is a true proffesional and 100% gret guy! The car is as new and looks and drives and smells just like out of the dealer.

My dream has come true and the car is 100% of what I expected from it.
I have picked it up on Wednesday and since then I have put 500 miles on it!
It is a Masterpiece! I am amazed by the quality of the engineering of the car and the way it drives. I did not expect it to be so comfortable and nice inside!
The public's reaction to the car is super positive - in the past 4 days I think I saw over 2000 people take photos of the car.

The way it drives is another story! It is tremednously hyper amazing! The steering is perfect and I feel like the car is part of me when I drive and go through curves.
The acceleration of the TT is out of this world - especially when you hit full boost in 3rd and 4th (still didn't switch to fifth - since 4th ends somewhere north of 180 mph). My Porsche seems like a diesel VW in comparison with the GT. The GT's acceleration also feels so smooth and only when you see 190 on the speedo and hit the brakes you realize how fast you were going.
Last night I went out for a drive and passed by the place where all the street racing action goes on in Moscow. 20 mins later I found myself on a 6 lane empty freeway with 2 722 SLR's, 1 CGT 1 Suzuki R1 (I think) and a 700 HP S 6.5biturbo. What can I say - I tried all of them from standstill and from 50 MPH to around 200 MPH. No one (including me) expected the GT to be THAT fast -
When I hit the brakes at about 190 MPH the CGT which had an early start was about 10 car lengths behind. The SLR at first went about 5 cars ahead ( I launched very smoothly) and then when he was going about 100MPH I went past him going about 140-150 MPH like he was standing.
The Biker said that he was starting to catch up with me around 3rd gear but then the turbos kicked in and I literrally jumped away from him.
The S 6.5 biturbo was just for fun :)
I did have major traction problems in 1-st and 2nd (a bit less when the PS2's heated up) so with a set of Hoosiers that is coming next week it should be fine. On Saturday we are negotiating to close the freeway, and I will go 0-200MPH against a LP640, Enzo and THE VEYRON (owned by the guy with the Merc S6.5 biturbo) :)

A few questions that I already have:
1.My car has the 1-2nd switch issue when cold, but I guess that is normal and I understand that a lot of the members have the same issue.
2. Sometimes the engine temp goes Up to 215 F - is that normal?
3. When hitting the rev limiter in 1-st and 2nd - there are flames about 10 inches long that shoot out of the exaust (scared the crap out of the biker that was driving behind) I believe that it is normal since teh wastegates drop the pressure and due to the poor air/ fuel ratio the excess gass burnes out. Is it normal?

In terms of mods :
I have decided to change the exaust - I think I will go with the Ford/Borla or Accufab systems - do I need to modify anything since I have the TT set up? or is it a bolt-on job?
I already have the FR tranny cooler that I will install this weekend.
I am thinking as well of replacing the Clutch - and get the Stillen one - are they available or it takes a long time to order/manufacture one?

P.S The forum is absolutely great and my dream would not have come true without it.
I am getting a professional photo shoot for a Russian Car mag on Wednesday and will post the promised In from of the Kremlin pics.
Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
Glad to hear your enjoying your ride.
May I suggest you contact Jason Heffner regarding any engine questions, mods etc. He is a great guy, very helpful and normally answers his emails within minutes. After all, he designed your system.
There should be no issues shifting between first and second when the transmission is warmed up.
Cheers,
daniel

Thanks for the nice post. It seems that you and many others in Russia are enjoying the GT. It is nice to show what an american car can do with a little help from a great tuner like Heffner.

:cheers :thumbsup

After last night I have got 5 calls asking for Shelby's number :) Shelby I wish you strength and courage - to refuse to sell your Tungsten TT :)

Congratualtions Alex. 215 temperature is not a problem except for a little loss of power. Surprisingly, most GT's run cooler when the Air Conditioner is "on". Good luck and be safe. :cheers

Great story! One more satisfied Heffner TT owner. I am SOOOOOO tempted!

post some pic of the racing scene over there and maybe even a video, Im interested to see how it goes down in russia, sounds like you had a blast that nite, its always more fun when your winning:biggrin becarefull though

2. Sometimes the engine temp goes Up to 215 F - is that normal? Also normal but undesirable. The fan-on temp needs to be recalibrated from the stock setting.

Glad you finally got the car. Also, very pleased to hear that you are SPANKING all those other hot cars! :banana Sounds like you are driving it the way it was meant. In other words, "BALLS TO THE WALL" :lol
Enjoy the car. Tell your friends to call me. I need another project. :thumbsup

1. The 1-2 chunk is normal when cold. I lot of owners simply go 1-3 until the car is warmed up. The transaxle fluid should be changed at 1 year of age (regardless of miles). Fresh fluid DOES improve the shifting.
2. 215 is norma. The high speed fans will come on to prevent higher. The car sometimes runs cooler with the AC on because AC will cause the high speed fan to come on sooner.
3. Flames are normal on full acceleration shifts. Full throttle/boost has an a/f of ~11:1 and then a sudden lift/shift will cause a momentary over-rich condition which will flame. On a rev limiter hit - the ECU is shutting down ignition and again you get an over-rich condition which will cause flames.
4. The Heffner exhaust is a good choice too. All will bolt-up as Jason has designed the TT with this in mind. Make sure you do not want to do the Rear Bumper Delete before buying an exhaust so you don't have to do it twice.
5. Check with Stillen on clutch availability.

He already has a rear bumper delete

Post the pics with the GT in front of the Kremlin! What a pic that will be!!!!

Man, I guess with all that hyper expensive iron capitalism in Russia is alive and well!!!

:thumbsup

Doh!! I remember this car - who wouldn't! Silly me. In this case, I say most definitely go with the Heffner exhaust!!

First Race of a TT GT and a Veyron?

Please post pics and/or video of your GT vs the Veyron.

I don't know of any prior direct race between a these two hypercars:eek

Yes, the Heffner exhaust is the way to go with the Heffner TT. When you go out against the Veyron doing it on a fast roll should negate the edge the Veyron will have with traction from a standing start.

Congrats on the excellent choice! I'd love to see some photos and video!

About the rev limiter, when you hit it fuel flows but the spark is absent to burn it off. If you hit the limiter long/often enough it can wash the lubricity out of the cylinder leading to premature engine failure.

While driving any car I consider it a mistake to hit it... ok, UNLESS its a rental :biggrin.

Anyway, please don't take my comments as criticism.:thumbsup

would love to see the look on a cops face here in the US after he asks "license, insurance card and registration please" and you hand him that registration!!!:rofl:eek.

Great info and story Alex!!

I have two Heffner TT GTs so I know exactly what you are talking about :banana

I also would suggest visiting with Jason Heffner before changing to much. He built the car for Shelby and is the man with the plan!

When you go up against the Veyron... a couple of tips you might try...

When we raced at Car & Driver our times were a lot faster than the Veyron. We did our best to keep the turbos in boost by power shifting as quick as possible. Using the Hoosiers on an airstrip with no prep allowed us to hook ALL the power through 2nd gear and on...

Also, try a third gear roll with the hoosiers, brake boosting to get the turbos spooled up... with that scenario you should have no problem.

Looking forward to the pics!!!!!!

Ray

Please be careful Alex.

You might as well be riding a rocket......
