This car was at Goodguys Puyallup last year...

Very nice.

Awesome. Loved the sound at idle.

Is it an RCR? I don't think it's one of the Kar Kraft/Ken Thompson replica/continuation cars, is it?

Pretty sure it is one of Fran's RCRs. Saw this one at Olthoff's which I believe is a KK car. Looks even better in person. Some massive primary tubes.

That thing looks like a beast. Love the turkey pan carb cover.

Saw the '67 MKIV Le Manns winner at AAR yesterday as it had just arrived from The Henry Ford for repairs. The event is now on my all time top ten thrill list, to watch Dan stare at it, tell stories and reminisce was over the top cool.

I would love to see this whole restoration process documented in a book and series of videos.

The Henry is adamant about not calling what is going on a "restoration". AAR was awarded the bid to preform the repairs due to the automotive racing engineers still working there possessing the ability to "surgically" mend items damaged in the fall while being as obtrusive as possible. The Henry went as far as to not want even the safety wire still in place from the '67 race removed and absolutely no repainting. Two big name automotive magazines are planning on doing in-depth articles on the process. What a awesome car to see in person.

I have seen this car several times at the local cars and coffee (exotics@RTC) from time to time.

Restorations are intended to make a specific vehicle "new" again - even the stickers (if there are any) should be replaced at the same position and angle that the assembler did when he slapped them on in the assembly line.

Preservation is what is intended for the Le Mans winning J car - and this is what museums like to store, in the condition as it wound up after the historic reason for its "need to be preserved." (Although, sometimes the insects and marble marks are removed) I trust that Dan (and AAR) will perform the repairs flawlessly to return it to the proper "preserved" condition.
